The lovely ladies of Carol’s Place include (L to R): Terrin Zebert, hair stylist; Carol Graham, salon owner and hair stylist; and Dani Freeman, salon manager and nail technician.

Have you ever gone into a salon and felt intimidated or unwelcome? Perhaps the staff ignored you while you stood several minutes waiting for acknowledgement. Then once you sat in the chair, you felt uncomfortable because the stylist simply wasn’t friendly or helpful. Fortunately, there is a salon in Claremore where this is guaranteed to never happen – and that place is Carol’s Place. According to owner and stylist Carol Graham, “Our focus from the beginning has been to provide high quality, professional services and to help the whole family feel welcome and at ease in a relaxing, fun, positive environment. Every person who walks through the door is greeted warmly and made to feel right at home.”
Carol opened the salon on December 30, 2014 along with Dani Freeman, manager and nail technician. The two had worked together for 15 years when they decided it was time to branch out and make their vision of a comfortable, family-friendly salon become a reality. Stylist Terrin Zebert rounds out the salon’s team. Carol and Dani are long-time friends of Terrin’s mother, and they have known the young lady since she was five years old. Terrin has been doing hair for four years, and when Carol’s Place opened, she was hired soon after.
The warm atmosphere of the salon is apparent through the women’s close relationships. “We work together every day, and we’re also best friends,” says Dani. Carol adds, “Dani is literally my right hand woman. We love our jobs, and we love working together. And Terrin is a bright ray of sunshine to the salon. She makes us laugh every single day.”
Carol’s Place focuses on the whole family, providing services for all ages – men, women and children. “A lot of our clients are families. We have many men and children clients. It is not for ladies only,” says Carol. The full range of services includes hair cuts and color, formal styles and up-dos, facial waxing, Keratin smoothing treatments, Hothead hair extensions, and makeup application. Dani offers manicures, pedicures, Shellac and Backscratcher silk nail extensions. One of her personal touches is hand filing her clients’ nails, rather than using a dremel.
The stylists continually expand their knowledge on current hair techniques and trends, and Carol recently attended a conference in Orlando, Florida that featured guest speaker Tabatha Coffey from Bravo TV’s “Tabatha Takes Over.” Carol says one of her most popular services for clients is color. “Ombre hair continues to be a popular trend right now, and a lot of people are interested in a technique of ‘painting’ the hair called bayalage. Vibrant hair colors are also big right now – a lot of clients are adding a splash of red or purple,” she says. Springtime also means prom and wedding season, and the ladies at Carol’s Place will ensure that you look your absolute best for the upcoming special occasions on your calendar.
The salon recently began offering Mirabella makeup for purchase. Mirabella’s mineral products include foundation, blush, eye shadows, lipstick and more, and all are paraben-, gluten- and talc-free. You’ll also find a variety of hair products and tools by Matrix, Chi and other top brands.
Carol’s Place is open daily Tuesday through Saturday, with evenings by appointment. Walk-ins are welcome during the day. Be sure to “like” Carol’s Place Hair & Nail Salon on Facebook to stay updated on what’s going on at the salon, such as specials and charitable events. “In January and February, our guests received $1 off any service for each nonperishable food item they brought in, up to $5. These items were donated to Good Samaritan Ministries throughout Rogers County,” says Carol. “We have also supported CASA’s Angel Tree and Back to School Program, and we are involved in a Cancer Awareness event every October. It is very important to us to give back to the community that supports us.”
