United Way of Rogers and Mayes Counties is proud to present their annual Chocolate Affair at the Claremore Conference Center on Thursday, October 6 from 7-9 p.m. This year’s event, titled the “Chocolate, Wine and More Affair”, is the second biggest fundraiser for the organization.
Guests in attendance are in for a treat with an evening hosted by 27 non-profit agencies for United Way, 20 of them representing Rogers and Mayes counties.
United Way is an organization that improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. They execute this advancement by creating opportunities for all. Their focus is on three building blocks for a good quality of life: education, income and health.
The Chocolate, Wine and More Affair helps non-profit agencies in the Rogers and Mayes counties to accomplish these initiatives. All proceeds will go to benefit the agencies involved with the organization.
“We’ve had a packed house the last two years, and we’re hoping for a pretty big crowd this year,” said Executive Director for United Way of Rogers and Mayes Counties Catherine Woldrige. “It’s just a nice, festive way to support agencies without sitting and bidding on silent auction items only. It’s a great way to network and sample desserts from the area and support the agencies at the same time.”
Some of the best vendors in the Rogers and Mayes counties will be providing samples of assorted chocolates, sweets and desserts for ticket holders. Guests can purchase 5 tastes for $12. Extra tastes will also be available for purchase.
“It’s just a fun atmosphere, it kind of feels like a party,” said committee member Jessica Wilbourn. “It’s a little more relaxed than a banquet, which makes it great.”
Some new features to the evening include wine and a live auction. Different selections and blends can be paired with decadent desserts. All wine must be bought separately.
A silent auction will be held with baskets provided by Rogers County agencies . A live auction will also take place with Rick Reimer as auctioneer.
Featured live auction items include: a smoker with an assortment of meat, a Eureka Springs getaway, Oklahoma City Thunder tickets as well as a Steven Adams signed basketball.
Event tickets are available for purchase at all Rogers County Banc First locations and the United Way website.
Sponsorships are still available with different features from the Chocolate Kisses level with a $100 donation to Crème Bruleé with a donation of $500.
All information about this fun night out can be found on the United Way of Rogers and Mayes Counties facebook page or by calling the United Way office.
