WRHS Hall of Fame to Honor Noted Alumni

Will Rogers High School will be adding a new class of 2019 Hall of Fame inductees during ceremonies March 29. Included in the 2019 class are Richard Meydag, R. David Bynum, Art Fleak, Pat Kelley and Sherryl Meliott McGuire. This group of alumni has been selected by the WRHS Community Foundation for their outstanding excellence in their respective career fields and will be honored with a display in the hallways of the school. Wild Onion Feast Celebrates the Rites of Spring

In Cherokee Indian culture, the harvesting of wild onions signifies the rites of spring. The Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club is hosting a Wild Onion Feast March 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Claremore from noon until 2 p.m. For only $25, you can join this 120-year-old tradition featuring a variety of Native American customs and foods. Walk A Mile in Her Shoes®

Walk A Mile in Her Shoes® is an annual event hosted by Safenet Services, Inc. to bring awareness to the subject of sexual assault and to encourage victims to seek help. Safenet is a light in the dark for victimized women in Rogers and Mayes counties, providing services for the healing of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. “This event is a fun way to get the community involved in bringing awareness by dressing up and walking for these women,” said Alexandra Seifried, a Development Specialist for Safenet. The event will take place April 6 at 10 a.m. Participants will meet at Claremore Gazebo Park.
