Duffy’s Restaurant Owner Eddie Chamat hosts an Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner that feeds over 1,000 visitors each Thanksgiving Day.

Thirty years ago, Eddie Chamat opened Duffy’s Restaurant in Broken Arrow specializing in home style cooking.  “It’s been a great thirty years,” says Eddie.  “I’ve appreciated the support and patronage from our city and have made many great friends over the years.  I’m so fortunate to have served four generations of Broken Arrow customers at Duffy’s.”
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and the menu features seasonal specials plus staples including chicken fried steak, pot roast, fresh boneless chicken tenders,  steak fingers, pork chops, goulash, lasagna, spaghetti and meat balls, crispy French fries, fluffy dinner rolls, omelets, cinnamon French toast and “slammers”…a breakfast sandwich with cinnamon toast, sausage, eggs and cheese.  The restaurant’s hours are 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday thru Thursday; 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Each Thanksgiving day Eddie pays back the community of Broken Arrow by offering a Free Thanksgiving For All Event from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.  “This is my way of saying thank you to all who have supported me in business,” he says.  Any and everyone is invited and no one has to pay.  Although many patrons and their families become a part of the day by volunteering to work and/or making donations, it really is free to those who come to eat.
Eddie also asked to take this opportunity to thank all of the loyal patrons who volunteer their time to help Duffy’s with the Thanksgiving Day event.  “Without our volunteers it could never happen.”

It takes a month to prepare for the Thanksgiving Day event and they again anticipate serving more than 1,000 meals complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, a dinner roll and pumpkin pie.  “Many who come in are just driving by, see all the cars and pull in to see what’s going on.  They’re really surprised when they’ve eaten and find out it’s free,” laughed Eddie.  Duffy’s was the first restaurant in Broken Arrow to do a free Thanksgiving dinner.
“We get calls each year asking about take-out meals,” says Eddie.  “We allow take-outs, but only for fire fighters and police officers plus a few others who are on duty providing important public services and cannot come in to eat.”
Eddie says a lot of first-timers tell him that Duffy’s is the kind of local restaurant they look for when on vacation.  “We see many of our out-of-town visitors coming back each time they revisit Broken Arrow.  If you haven’t been to Duffy’s, please come in and let us serve you.  Maybe we’ll see you on Thanksgiving Day?”
