ORU Continues Growth with Groundbreaking of New Media Arts Center

Oral Roberts University (ORU) broke ground on a new building for the third time in less than 30 days in a ceremony for the new Media Arts Center (MAC). This is the fourth new building for the expanding campus. The MAC will be home to ORU’s theatre, dance, music, and digital media departments. Construction is scheduled to begin in early December and the expected completion date is April 2024.

Cash Prizes will be awarded to the student writers of the top three letters in each level. First place winners will select their school library or public library to receive a cash prize of $1,000! Contest entries will be accepted beginning Oct. 15, 2021. The deadline to submit is Dec. 17, 2021, at 5 p.m.

News from the Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club

The Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club is Oklahoma’s oldest, continuous chartered club. Established in the summer of 1899 at Oowala, in the Cooweescoowee District of the Cherokee Nation in Indian Territory, it began as a ‘past-time club’ for Native women returning home in the summers from seminaries and colleges. Today, the club remains active in cultural preservation and community service. Based in Claremore, the membership’s dedication to Cherokee and local history is inspiring and commendable. More than a century since its inception, the women of the Pocahontas Club still gather to preserve Cherokee values.
