Aspen Liquor Store Manager Paula McCarver and Beer Manager Morris McCarver put a primary focus on customer service.
Charles and Wyvonna Thompson have owned Aspen Liquor for more than 30 years. Located at the corner of 91st and Aspen in Broken Arrow, the business is operated by Store Manager Paula McCarver. Paula’s husband, Morris, is the operation’s beer manager. The fun-loving couple fondly refers to each other as the “Wino” and the “Beer Snob.”
Paula has years of former experience managing a Texaco Convenience Store in Broken Arrow and was hired to manage Aspen Liquor five years ago. After spending just a few minutes with Paula and Morris, you realize that they genuinely enjoy each other, their customers, and running Aspen Liquor. “Morris really does a great job managing our beers,” said Paula. “When he came to work for the company, he immersed himself in learning all about beers in general and the ever-booming craft beer movement. Customers love Morris and ask for him by name when they come to the beer merchandising area in our store. Beer sales have climbed off the chart since Morris became our beer guru.”
Morris adds, “Like wine, one develops a taste for beer. We have more than 250 skews of beer that include everything from just about anywhere.” While perusing the beer shelves at Aspen Liquor, you’ll find selections that are brewed in California, Oregon, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, New York, Colorado and Wisconsin. There are even Kosher beers, plus imports from Nicaragua, China, Japan, Canada, Barcelona, Belgium, Britton and Germany. They even have several gluten-free beer offerings. “We have one of the best beer sections you’ll find in Northeastern Oklahoma,” he says.
Aspen Liquor has a huge inventory of great wines and liquors at all price levels. And as Paula says with a laugh, “Chances are if we don’t have what you’re looking for, you probably don’t need it!” The store has regular customers from surrounding communities because of their huge inventory and the combined product knowledge and service provided by Paula and Morris. “We truly pride ourselves on our customer service,” says Paula. “We try to create a family atmosphere with our customers.”
Aspen Liquor rewards a lucky customer each month with a $100 merchandise credit through their Customer Rewards Program. Ask for details to become part of the program when you visit.
Paula urges customers to ask Morris or her about any of their products or describe a taste or the product you’re seeking, and one of them should be able to help you find that product or lead you to something very similar.
Aspen Liquor has been at the same location for over 30 years, and they continue to grow in sales, knowledge and offerings. Stop by and visit Paula and Morris and let them show you just how much they enjoy delivering genuine, Oklahoma hospitality and service.
