Ryan Marrs (left) and Cody Andrus (right) are former co-workers turned friends turned business partners. The pair launched Donut Run in September 2015 and don’t plan on stopping any time soon.

Some Saturday mornings, Alana Kennon feels like she has seven kids instead of three. A busy mom of avid soccer players, Kennon found a way to simplify things: When it’s her turn to provide snacks to the team, Kennon calls Donut Run, a new concept in food delivery. Rather than spending precious time in a drive-through or at the store, Kennon has the snack delivered directly to the soccer field.
“I have multiple kids on multiple fields,” she said. “I love anything that helps us busy parents.”
The brainchild of friends Cody Andrus and Ryan Marrs, Donut Run will deliver donuts to just about anywhere in the Tulsa metro area, including Jenks, Owasso, Bixby, Broken Arrow and Glenpool.
The idea came from an experience Andrus had while standing in line at the donut shop with his children one Saturday morning.
“They were screaming over the last Elmo donut,” he recalled. “And I thought ‘there has to be an easier way.’”
Friends since 2008, the pair met while working at Tulsa Community College. Andrus, a former teacher and social worker, and Marrs, Chief Information Officer at Expo Square, came up with the idea for what they call their “pizza of the morning” delivery service during their weekly meeting over burgers on August 31, 2014.
“We have a business idea every other day,” Marrs said, “We said ‘let’s do it. It sounds fun.’”
Donut Run officially launched in September 2015 and has built up quite a following, mostly through its Facebook page. Always evolving, the pair is constantly looking at new ways to make the business more convenient. They also hope to expand to other cities. Like many other sharing websites, Donut Run is only available online.
Their company website is attractive and easy to use. Customers go online and enter their zip code and choose the type and number of donuts, along with location and time of delivery. Payment is via credit or debit card on a secured website. Andrus, Marrs, or one of their team members, will deliver the order from a nearby donut store. The cost is 79 cents per donut or $7.99 per dozen with a delivery fee of $4.99. Customers can also add special requests and delivery instructions.
Choices include a variety of donut types or an assorted dozen. Within a 24-hour notice, Donut Run will customize an order even adding personal notes. All Saturday deliveries come with free donut holes. Whether it’s one dozen or 12 dozen, Donut Run will deliver to your home or business.
Marrs and Andrus continue to come up with new and innovative ways to expand their business. Marrs is working on a new, expanded web site and don’t be surprised if an unidentified flying donut is seen over Tulsa in the near future. The pair aims to make the first commercial delivery by drone in Tulsa.
Visit Donut Run’s Facebook page for interesting facts about donuts or to learn more about the delivery service. Donut Run delivers six days a week from 6 to 10 a.m. but orders can be placed any time for next day delivery.
