Winter Concert Series- A Tribute to the King

Academic subjects will never seem boring again when presented through mega-hits like “Conjunction Junction,” “Just a Bill,” “Interplanet Janet” or “Three is a Magic Number.”

Schoolhouse Rock Live! explodes onto the stage, updated for a whole new generation with imaginative image projections and a rock ’n’ roll feel. The live performance revolves around Tom, a nervous young schoolteacher, who turns on the television to calm himself down and is visited by three aspects of his personality who remind him how learning can be fun.

Originally aired on the ABC television network from 1973-1985, then revived in the ‘90s and ‘00s, Schoolhouse Rock was a collection of clever, animated shorts that taught academic topics, including grammar, math, civics and science.

A new production of Tobias Picker’s first opera makes its Oklahoma premiere!

Based on a true story and the book by Judith Rossner, the opera tells the story of Emmeline, who gives up her illegitimate son for adoption. With choreography by Resident Choreographer Ma Cong, sets and costumes by New Zealand’s top designer Tracy Grant Lord, and incredible dancing by Tulsa Ballet II, Jack and the Beanstalk encourages the audience to expand their imagination.  A musical score assembled by Principal Company Pianist Andrew Lahti and narration by Dan McGeehan, who also adapted the story, help create an entertaining and educational performance perfect for the young and young at heart!
