With Easter just around the corner, now is the perfect time to be shopping for that perfect spring dress, outfit or anytime ensemble – for the little one.

At Claremore’s exclusive baby boutique, The District Baby, Easter and springtime outfits for baby girls – and boys – are currently in stock and can perfectly complement your wee one.

“Right now, we have a huge selection of spring dresses, with warmer weather coming up,” said Cari Bohannan, owner of The District Baby and its sister boutique, The District on Main. “Among some of the most popular clothing lines we carry are YoBaby, which is for girls only, and Mayoral, which offers collections for girls, boys and even babies, available in a large assortment of colors, prints and designs.

“Another one of the most popular brands we carry is RuffleButts – those are for the little girls, and their sister or rather, brother brand, are RuggedButts, for the little boys,” Bohannan said. “Both of these (brands) have proven extremely popular with moms for their children, and we have items in from their spring 2020 line – with girls’ spring clothes, dresses, bloomers, ruffled shorts, swim tops and rompers, as well as baby, toddler and boys’ dress-up attire including button-down and polo shirts, chino pants and shorts, rompers, bow-ties and much more.”

Another always-popular brand, according to Bohannan, is Kickee Pants, an infant and toddler line of sleepwear and apparel line based on the idea that children should feel unrestricted by their clothing, even when they are dressed up.

And don’t forget their feet, as Native Shoes have proven among The District Baby’s more popular brand of footwear, offering comfortable and ultra-light shoes for the smallest of feet.

“One of the newer brands we carry are Me & Henry, which is a little boys' clothing line, and Vignette, which are for girls,” she said. “These are sister companies, so oftentimes, there are coordinating outfits which are ideal for brothers and sisters – that’s actually a huge trend right now – people wanting their children to match, and many of the brands we carry offer coordinating or complementary outfits for little boys and girls.”

Are you shopping for someone else’s child or a baby-to-be? Ask Cari about The District Baby’s baby registry.

“People can come in the store, pick out things they want on their (baby) registry, and we write it all down for them,” she said. “Then, when someone comes in to shop for that person’s baby, we have a list of things left to us that the person they’re shopping for wants, we can make suggestions for them so that they’re able to make an appropriate purchase that they know will be well-received.”

Should an item not be in stock, it can be special-ordered, Bohannan said, although that rarely happens because there’s always “so much to choose from.”

Open since August 2019, The District Baby has birthed a whole new niche of clothing and other possibilities for parents of children from birth through 6 years old, offering high-end brand name, but affordable clothing, shoes, toys, books and other necessities.

“There are so many more options available for parents now than there were only a few years ago – so many more options, it’s crazy,” laughed Bohannan, “but because of this, children now can look more unique and individual than ever before, and however a parent or aunt or grandmother wants the little ones to look, we likely have something just for them.”

But District Baby is much more than a spring clothing boutique for children, as a large assortment of age-appropriate books, toys, gifts, and supplies are always in stock, such as Jellycat stuffed animals and books, and the Little Unicorn line of diaper bags, blankets and other baby accessories.

“Another one of our more popular stuffed animals that we carry are ‘Warmies,’ which are stuffed toys that you can warm up, and they can be played with as well as used to help keep the little ones warm,” she said.

Although Bohannan admitted that managing two shops downtown (District Baby and The District on Main) keeps her “quite busy,” she loves the customers and is fortunate to have “extremely good help” at both locations.

“We’re very unique in Claremore – there isn’t another shop like us that carries the same items that we carry,” she said. “Since we first opened, we’ve steadily gotten more and more business, and it’s not uncommon for us to have customers that drive to us from outside of Claremore – from Owasso, Pryor, Broken Arrow, even from Tulsa, which is something.”

The District Baby in Claremore carries several exclusive brands of clothing and gift items for children between birth and six years old.

The District Baby is located at 418 W. Will Rogers Boulevard in Claremore. The hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Wednesday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
