BA Senior Resource and Health Fair offers free screenings for seniors.

April 2017: The 27th Annual Senior Resource & Health Fair is set for Friday, April 21, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Central Park Community Center, 1500 South Main in Broken Arrow.  The 2017 Senior Fair is being presented by the BA Rotary and the Senior Center is hosting the event.

Peggy, like hundreds of other people 55 and up, attends the Senior Resource and Health Fair each and every April. "This is the one event where I learn the most about products and services that are available just for me," Peggy says.  Peggy, an active "70 something" lady, is committed to healthy aging.  "The Annual Senior Fair is the one event that helps me stay informed - it's the best event for seniors in the area - plus it's free and it's fun!," she adds with a smile.

More than 100 informational and screening booths will be onsite including displays by the Center's platinum sponsors:  Bellarose, City of Broken Arrow, Floral Haven, Heritage Point of Tulsa, LIFE Senior Services and Tapestry at Woodland Hills.  In addition to offering valuable information there will be free health screening for visual acuity, hearing, glaucoma, blood pressure, diabetes, and bone density.  Broken Arrow Police Department (BAPD) and American Document Shredding will sponsor a shredding event.  In addition, BAPD and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) will offer a collection site for unused prescription drugs. Those that attend will also enjoy hourly demonstrations by the BA Senior Center's Line dancing, Zumba and Tai Chi groups.

"I'm planning on coming to take advantage of the free screenings," says Peggy.  "This event really offers it all."

In addition to seeing Peggy visit the various booths at the Senior Fair, you may just find her in the line dancing demonstration provided by members of the Senior Center!

The Broken Arrow Senior Activity Center is open for membership by anyone 55 and older looking for a place that supports healthy aging.  More than 50 activities including computer classes, yoga, tai chi, Zumba, line dancing, pool tables and tournaments, ukulele, card, Bible study, arts and crafts is offered throughout the week.  The Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is a partner agency with the Tulsa United Way.
