Wreath Laying Ceremony

The Will Rogers Memorial Museum will host a special wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the death of Will Rogers, Oklahoma’s Favorite Son. The ceremony will take place at the Will Rogers family tomb on the museum grounds, where Rogers was laid to rest alongside his wife Betty and their children. The ceremony will include members of the Rogers family and a poetic elegy written by AIAC Chairman L. M. Levie, entitled The Call of Will Rogers, which shall be recited by Will Rogers’ great-granddaughter Jennifer Rogers-Etcheverry.

The heroines band together and face the gods’ mayhem proving sometimes you can all be heroes. About film: After her sister Tama’s untimely passing, Birdie learns that the bond between them is stronger than life and death. In between states of memory and heartbreak, Tama and Birdie show how we can continue on in a different way if we are willing to listen.

About Writer/Director: Birt Hensel (Cherokee Nation): Brit is a Tulsa Artist Fellowship alumna and an Oklahoma-based director, writer, and award-winning filmmaker whose work has been featured at Sundance, imagineNATIVE, Hot Docs, and Full Frame. A citizen of the Cherokee Nation, she is the first female enrolled member of the tribe to direct a film selected by the Sundance Film Festival.

Jana Jae Fiddle Camp & Music Festival

Attend the Jana Jae Fiddle Camp and Music Festival and witness fiddlers of all levels and ages come together in a learning experience with master instructors and performers. Classes include demonstrations and instruction, as well as learning to play with groups and before an audience. All acoustic musicians are welcome. Other workshops presented are flat-pick guitar, back-up guitar, mandolin, cello, and spoons. Enjoy this fun-filled weekend of learning, great entertainment and jamming with friends.

This event will feature bluegrass music, swing and more. Bring the whole family and enjoy great food and great music.
