The Horse of Course presented its High Score award to multiple competitors this past weekend. This award is traditionally given to the highest scoring horse and rider pair of the entire show, whether the winner is an adult amateur, young rider or professional of any level. However, at the Oklahoma Dressage Society Spring Shows, the Horse of Course decided to change things up. The popular tack shop rewarded the highest scoring junior, amateur and open rider of each competing level— 15 riders total— with an embroidered cooler for their excellent performance and notable marks.
The Horse of Course is led by CEO Beth Haist and her husband, professional saddle fitter Marty Haist. The company has had an established reputation since 1995 for providing high quality tack, fashionable and functional attire as well as horse care products. The Claremore, Oklahoma-based company most recently parked its mobile tack shop near it’s home base for the Oklahoma Dressage Society spring shows that took place at the Tulsa Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 7-8.
The first to take home a blue ribbon and the High Score Award embroidered cooler was Junior/Young rider Lily Rhodes with Details At Last in Introductory Level. Winners in Training Level were Junior/Young rider Olivia Brackin on Cobridge El Dorado, Amateur Laura Custer on Bushido, and Open rider Patty Couch on Gallant Prince Von G. Winning in First Level was Junior/Young Rider Hensley Moses riding Faloria, Amateur Lisa Miller riding Avalanche’s Prince Firestorm and Open rider Gretchen Aycock with Samara. Second Level went to Junior/Young Rider Kailey Devore riding Fauston NAF, Amateur Viki Meyers on Gold Flash, and Open rider Anthea Kin on Finian. Then in Third Level it was Junior/Young rider Nikki Weitzenhoffer on Charisma, Amateur Debbie Nutt with Beloved Victory and Open rider Cheryl West riding Comet who took home the honors. Honored in Fourth Level was Lynn Vandenberg riding Zuni Sunrise and in the FEI Levels, Kristin Wasemiller-Knutson won with Casaro. All recipients were overjoyed to take home their embroidered coolers and were happy to see the company return to the show.
Patty Couch was pleasantly surprised when she received her High Score designation with her Friesian horse Gallant Prince Von G. Couch.
“I was very honored to have won both the High Point Friesian award and the High Point Training Level award,” she commented. “I’m thankful to The Horse of Course, Beth Haist, and Stephanie Peck for donating all the beautiful coolers, and to Susan Peacock for all her hard work to make this show run so smoothly. The show committee did an awesome job of making sure that every detail was well taken care of and the awards and award ceremony were wonderful.”
