Tulsa Performing Arts Center Youth Choir Auditions

The Tulsa Performing Arts Center Youth Choir (TPAC Youth Choir) will be directed by Jeremy Stevens and will nurture and inspire students ages 11 through 18, promoting student achievement through quality music education, community engagement and the pursuit of artistic excellence. Through the TPAC Youth Choir, we envision a future where excellence in choral singing is valued and supported for all children in the community, bridging culture, ethnicities and economic backgrounds. There is an annual fee of $150 per member, but qualifying families can receive financial aid.

Vintage Market Days Celebrates 10 Years of Success in Tulsa

What started out as a fun hobby has created 10 years of success on a scale larger than Dianna Brown could have imagined. Brown is the owner and co-founder of Vintage Market Days, an upscale, vintage-inspired, indoor/outdoor market. Ten years ago, Vintage Market Days started off in a pumpkin patch, quickly outgrew that space, and made its way to downtown Tulsa. It ultimately ended up in the Creek County Fairgrounds. During the last 10 years, Vintage Market Days has created a franchise with almost 60 territories in 25 different states. The Rose District, in partnership with Vega & Treviño Consultants and Supermercados Morelos, Oklahoma’s largest Hispanic grocery chain, is bringing back it’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta! The event will take up two city blocks and will combine with the Rose District’s Farmer’s Market. Vendors from both events will be at the Farmer’s Market from 8 to 11 am, and the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta will begin at 12 and end at 9 p.m.

Rose District Farmers Market Now Accepting SNAP and SFMNP

When the Rose District Farmers Market opens its 19th season Saturday, April 2, it will be the first-time eligible shoppers can use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) to purchase fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables at the market. “These programs ensure that all citizens of Broken Arrow have the opportunity to shop from our fine vendors,” said Community Development Director Larry Curtis. “This has been years in the making and through team effort, this coming season, we will be able to offer the program.”

Pocahontas Club Brings Annual Old-Fashioned Picnic Back to the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch

This May, the members of the Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club are bringing back one of their own traditions with the annual “Old Fashioned Picnic” in northeast Oklahoma – and the public is invited. “The (Old Fashioned) picnic is an event that’s been happening ever since the Pocahontas Club was founded in 1899, when picnics were the social gatherings of the day,” said Ollie Starr, longtime Pocahontas Club member. “As our club members are caretakers of the (Cherokee) culture, heritage and communities, we’ve continued to have this picnic every year, as it’s become one of our many traditions.”

Pathways Adult Learning Center is hosting its 5th annual Dream Maker Luncheon on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Silo Event Center to raise support for the Pathways continuing education program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This 1-hour event is free to attend, but you must pre-register by April 15th. Attendees will hear about the program’s impact on the disability community, enjoy a choir performance from Pathways students and hear from a Pathways parent about their family’s experience. Pathways will provide an opportunity for attendees to donate, but donations are not required.

Oklahoma’s longest running festival, Rooster Days, is proud to announce the hiring of a new carnival company, Wagner’s Carnival, LLC. “We are thrilled to be able to provide the Broken Arrow and surrounding communities with new ride options, new promotions, and an updated midway experience.” said Jennifer Conway, President, and CEO of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce. “We are looking forward to a great relationship with Wagner’s Carnival and all the new amenities and promotions they will provide to the Rooster Days festival,” continued Conway. With this new carnival comes new dates, June 9-12, 2022. These dates will replace the previously announced May dates and the festival will remain in June moving forward.

The Broken Arrow Chamber wrapped up BA Day at the Capitol with a reception where they presented City Councilor Johnnie Parks with their 2021 Elected Official of the Year award. City Councilor Johnnie Parks has spent the last forty-three years serving Broken Arrow as a City Councilor, Vice Mayor, and as a member of the Planning Commission.  Councilor Parks served as the Ward One City Councilor from 1979 to 1994, he was a member of the Planning Commission from 1995 to 2011 and was elected to the At Large seat for City Council in 2011 and this is the seat he currently still holds.

A Tribute to Gus Hardin, Debbie Campbell, Betsy Smittle and The Tulsa Sound

Tulsa was jamming on a world stage back in the early 1970s and 80s, developing their own sound that made a four-corner impact across the globe. The energy created by an immensely talented group of Oklahoma musicians will be re-created May 15th at Cain’s Ballroom, a venue that many Tulsa Sound artists called home. This tribute concert will pay honor to three amazing female artists, Gus Hardin, Debbie Campbell and Betsy Smittle, although no longer with us, these women have left a legacy that will live on for years to come.
