This year, the First United Methodist Church handbell choir performance will be December 3 at 4 p.m.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and the most wonderful holiday bucket list would not be complete without a chorus of carolers in a sanctuary filled with lush holiday greens and the golden glow of holiday lights. If you’re looking for a some soul-filling Christmas love, several churches in Tulsa offer performances to set your heart soaring this season.
Tulsa Founders Chorus is an “all-American barbershop harmony style” chorus performing in four-part harmony. They will be performing Merry Christmas, Hallelujah at John Knox Presbyterian on December 3 at 1 p.m. Sound Decision will be guest starring at this limited seating event, and Christmas dinner will be prepared by Chef Don Conner. For reservations, contact eat0@eau0eav0eaw0.
If you are dying to hark how the sweet silver bells all seem to say throw cares away, also on December 3 at 4 p.m. is the First United Methodist Church handbell choir performance. This performance by the Susannah Wesley Handbell Choir is an annual event offering selections from traditional church hymns, contemporary worship arrangements, and Christmas favorites. The concert is an ethereal and beautiful holiday tradition to enjoy.
Boston Avenue United Methodist will be hosting its 22nd annual Natalie O. Warren presentation of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, December 17 at 5 p.m. The 18th-century oratorio will be performed by the Chancel Choir, Soloists, and Members of the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. The operatic piece, written as a meditative reflection on Jesus Christ, captures the more sacred side of the holiday season. This inspiring event will take place in the church’s beautiful sanctuary.
Also on December 17 at 11 a.m., Bixby’s Woodlake Church is hosting an exciting Christmas performance in the Union High School Performing Arts Center. The production is set up like a talent show where amazing, talented performers will wow you as they compete to win. Photos with Santa and hot cocoa before and after the show will be available. For nursery-aged children, childcare will be provided. This general admission event is free and open to the public, no reservation required.
For a beautiful contemporary Christian holiday performance, check out Church on the Move’s big event Christmas on the Move. This event will be offered at 12 separate times at three different locations, so be sure to visit their website, www.churchonthemove.com, to find the right performance for you. This church calls this event “a warm and meaningful event for the whole family.” No tickets are required for this event, but it is recommended that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled performance. The later Saturday performances will also be available online at COTMLive.com.
Most local churches also offer Christmas Eve services which include beautiful performances, so there’s no better time to visit your local ministry.
Be sure to check online for the latest details and updates about each show.
