“Life Begins at Forty” was released April 4, 1935, four months before Will Rogers’ death. Three New York newspaper critics gave him good marks. His hometown critics can have their say after a New Year’s Eve showing and party following on Dec. 31 in the Will Rogers Memorial Museum Theatre.

Christmas, more than any other time of the year, is a season for homecomings and a time for family traditions. As the Yuletide season approaches, so do holiday traditions and the opportunity for generations young and old to make memories. Will’s Wild West Kids Camp will take on a new format this year with three days of activities at the Will Rogers Memorial June 21-23. Hands-on projects will help children, ages 5-12, how to relate life on the western frontier in the time of Will Rogers, born in 1879.

Spring has sprung at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum and events this year are more fun than ever! Event dates are planned to include a “Barter Bash” for kids to trade toys, “Family Days” where you can participate in live demonstrations, “Shindig” with live music, and “Movie Night” in their newly renovated Will Rogers Theatre. This December, the ghost of Christmas past will be paying a visit to Oologah for the annual Will’s Country Christmas celebration. Named in honor of Oklahoma’s favorite son, Will’s Country Christmas is an annual holiday celebration which harkens back to simpler times, giving the young and the young at heart alike the chance to see how the Rogers family might have celebrated the festive Christmas season.

Despite the cancellation of so many 2020 events, festivals, and social get-togethers due to the coronavirus, northeastern Oklahoma aviation aficionados can still make plans to look to the skies for the return of the Will Rogers/Wiley Post Fly-in and National Day of Remembrance. Slated for Saturday, August 15 in Oologah, Oklahoma, the annual fly-in and day of remembrance event will see swarms of planes returning to the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch for a not-to-be-missed day of free family-friendly fun and entertainment.

Will Rogers Motion Picture Festival will be coming to Claremore October 30 through November 2, with categories including College Shorts, Made in Oklahoma, American Indian/First Nation/Indigenous, Documentary, Narrative, Comedy and Children’s. There will be lots of activities throughout the Festival including a Kick-Off event, lectures, after parties, lots of movies to watch at different venues around Claremore and the Dog Irons Award Ceremony on November 2nd at the Will Rogers Auditorium on the Rogers State University campus. The Will Rogers Memorial Museum has announced Stephanie Hunter as the new activities and education manager. Stephanie has been part of the museum staff since 2015 and has immersed herself in not only Will Rogers’ lore but also traditions of the times of his birth and childhood on an Indian Territory ranch. Stephanie and her team of “Hands-on Historians” will plan and host events such as the recent Will Rogers & Wiley Post Fly-In as well as teach demonstrations at the museum, such as old-fashioned butter churning, candle making, weaving, and more.
