Oklahoma Renaissance Festival

June 5: Starlight Jazz Orchestra – 72 years in existence, the jazz orchestra is made up of the area’s best musicians and pack the Guthrie Green when they play. They will fill Central Park with Jazz and fun. Young musicians should come speak with players during break and after to soak up some inspiration. Tuesdays in the Park is a long-running success for arts in Broken Arrow. Each Tuesday evening in June a musical performance is presented on an outdoor stage in Central Park. The grassy slope of the park provides an excellent amphitheater for the crowds relaxing and listening...and often dancing. Tuesdays in the Park is free to attend and appropriate for families. The Rose District in Downtown Broken Arrow offers visitors a great opportunity to spend extra time shopping and enjoying the vibrant community. USA Today has listed the Rose District as Oklahoma’s entry for “Charming Main Streets Across the US”, so don’t miss the chance to check it out before the concert. Music lovers are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs. Attendance ranges from 350 adults to 600, but each year the event is growing. A variety of food vendors donate a portion of profits to ARTSOK to support this event. All other expenses are funded by donors and grants. This year’s vendors include Broken Arrow Civitans famous hamburgers, Stu B Que and Kona Ice. AVB Bank is the major event donor and supporter of ARTSOK.

Brown Bag It 2017-18 Series Announced for Tulsa PAC Trust

June 6, 2018 | 12:10 - 12:50 p.m.

The Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust’s Brown Bag It free noontime concert series on select Wednesdays at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center is back with another exciting line-up. The popular series, which was established in the early 1980s, is once again returning to the first Wednesday of every month, with the exception of January. Vocalist Janet Rutland kicks off the 2017-18 Brown Bag It season. Janet is equally comfortable singing Hank Williams or Johnny Mercer. Rutland will be accompanied by pianist Spencer Sutton for a set of vintage pop, jazz and country music. The mission of the series is to offer the community an opportunity to visit the Performing Arts Center facility and hear quality musical presentations. Audiences are invited to bring and eat lunch during the concerts, creating an informal atmosphere. Likewise, the musicians are encouraged to “inform” as well as perform by giving background information or program notes during the concert, breaking down the barriers between performer and audience. Flag Day Ceremony

June 11, 2018 | 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Monday June 11 The Military History Center in Broken Arrow is hosting a Flag Day Ceremony at the center’s museum location in the Rose District of Broken Arrow at 112 North Main. The ceremony will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., The Flag Day event is free. The American flag, Service Branch flags, Medal of Honor flag, Air and Army National Guard flags, and 45th Infantry Division flag will be raised by veterans representing each flag. Special guest speaker for this event is Oklahoma First District Congressman Jim Bridenstine who also is a member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard. SP4 Willard Parish, Silver Star recipient from the Vietnam Ia Drang Valley Battle, will provide a patriotic musical arrangement. The museum, which represents all branches of the military service and has artifacts from all of America’s major wars, will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 11.

It’s great Doo Wop, pre-Beatles Rock ‘n’ Roll with comical theatrics, one killer band and wonderful backup singers. June 26: Weston Horn and the Hush – NOBODY is as hot as this band in this area right now. Amazing energy and power horn-band rock. They complement their originals with many crowd favorites that include songs of the Blues Brothers among others.
