Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Arts Festival

The Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Arts Festival in Tulsa is a celebration of Hispanic culture and remembrance of loved ones who have passed. Make your way to Living Arts of Tulsa in the Brady District to to attend lectures and workshops, watch Mexican dancing and a browse unique items for sale in the artist's market. The Dia De Los Muertos Arts Festival also features live music, Mexican food and a skeleton parade. Bring the kids out to this family-friendly event for children's activities including face painting, sidewalk art and fire dancers. Altared Spaces, an exhibit of alters made to honor loved ones who have passed on, will be on display during the festival.

Will Rogers Days

November 4-7, 2015

Will Rogers Days celebrates the November 4, 1879 birth of Will Rogers, Oklahoma's favorite son, as well as the opening of the Will Rogers Memorial Museum on November 4, 1938. An array of festivities are planned to commemorate this date, including Will Rogers' birthday celebration. Come out to this event at Will Rogers' birthplace, Dog Iron Ranch in Oologah, to enjoy birthday cake and live entertainment. As part of the festivities, Will Rogers Days Children's Day at the Museum is on Thursday. The afternoon is filled with trick roping, storytelling, old fashioned games, refreshments and music. It is a great introduction to Will Rogers' era from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. On Saturday, head to the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore for the antique and classic car show. Admire rows of sleek vehicles from decades past, including a variety of makes and models. Don't miss the Will Rogers Days Parade in downtown Claremore on Saturday. Watch as decorated floats, marching bands, cars, show horses, Shriners and more make their way down Will Rogers Boulevard. Following the parade, the Indian Women's Pocahontas Club will conduct a wreath-laying ceremony and hold a reception in honor of Will Rogers called "Hats Off to Will."

Plein Air Oklahoma

November 4-7, 2015

Plein Air Oklahoma is a celebration of plein air art and the beauty of Tahlequah and the surrounding area full of lakes, rivers, vistas, a vital downtown and more paintable scenery. Artists will meet at the downtown art studio, the Spider Gallery, but will be creating beautiful works across the county throughout the weekend. Come watch the artists at work as they are set up in public spaces, or try your hand at painting and be a part of Plein Air Oklahoma. The weekend will also include a juried show and workshops as well as paint outs, quick draws and a wine and paint evening on Friday. The collectors party and sale on Saturday will have many plein air paintings for sale and be open to the public. The opening reception at the Spider Gallery will have live music, feature Cherokee artists and have a pottery tile relief design event. Awards will be given out on Saturday for a variety of titles including Best of Show, Artists' Choice and People's Choice as well as prizes for the best pieces on canvas and paper.

Nanyehi, The Story of Nancy Ward

An original musical based on the life of one of the most influential women in Cherokee history is coming to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. Held at The Joint, “Nanyehi – Beloved Woman of the Cherokee" is the story of Nancy Ward, a legendary woman who was first honored in the 18th century as a Cherokee war woman, but then as a peacemaker during the American Revolution.

Dripping Springs Rendezvous

November 5-7, 2015

Step back in time to the 1830s and see history come alive at the Dripping Springs Rendezvous in Dripping Springs State Park. Witness demonstrations of blacksmithing, hawk and knife throws, black powder shoot, flint and steel fire-starting, leather-crafting, primitive archery shoot and more. See trappers, traders, mountain men and Native Americans reenact scenes from the 1800s. This event also features food, souvenirs, music and fun and is a great event for a group or school to visit. All ages enjoy this event and walk away having learned something. History class was never this exciting.

September 24 – November 7, 2015 Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9:00 am – 6:30 p.m. And - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday by appointment Closed Sunday • The Pumpkin Festival is a harvest celebration held at Shepherd’s Cross, an authentic working farm, just north of Claremore OK on Scenic Route 66. • Come to the farm and enjoy the peace of a few hours spent in the country. • Wholesome fun for the entire family includes hay maze, festive outdoor & indoor games, Farm Animal Petting Barn, farm demonstrations and festive fall story time. First Company in Oklahoma to offer residential gigabit Internet is hosting 15th Annual Chili Cook-Off to Benefit the Bixby Outreach Center! The first company in Oklahoma to offer residential gigabit Internet is continuing their commitment to also providing community leadership and participation. BTC Broadband is hosting their 15th annual “Bettering the Community” Chili Cook-Off on Friday, November 6, from 11:30-1. The event will be held on the East side of their S. Battle of Honey Springs Re-enactment

November 6-7, 2015

Commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Honey Springs with a special re-enactment of the battle in Checotah near Rentiesville. Come and witness as costumed re-enactors bring to life the largest military clash ever to have occurred in Oklahoma. The Battle of Honey Springs is remembered as a pivotal point in Civil War military engagement in Indian Territory. This battle, which occurred on July 17, 1863, consisted of a clash of forces between United States units under Major General James G. Blunt and Confederate States of America troops commanded by Brig. General Douglas H. Cooper. Attend the Battle of Honey Springs Re-enactment to witness this massive re-enactment held only every other year. The battle re-enactment will attract over 1,500 participants, making it the state's largest such event. Secure your spot on the sidelines to watch a spectacular display of living history brought to life before your eyes as participants re-enact the Battle of Honey Springs and the Battle of Greenleaf Prairie. The Battle of Honey Springs gained significance as an important Union victory in their efforts to gain control of Indian Territory. The battle was also unique in that white soldiers were the minority on both sides of the military conflict. Approximately 9,000 soldiers were involved in the battle, including Cherokee and Creek regiments, other American Indian forces, veteran Texas regiments and the 1st Kansas Colored Volunteers, the first black regiment in the Union army.

The annual Euchee/Yuchi Heritage Festival will take place at the Glenpool Creek Indian Community Center. Come and enjoy a traditional meal of corn soup, beans and fry bread. Saturday's events will include a horseshoe tournament, traditional church hymn singing, fancy dancing, bow shooting and a silent auction. Shark Bay Pirate Festival

Rhema Christmas Lights

Garden of Lights

Castle Christmas

Experience one of the world's largest collections of holiday inflatables at this year's Castle Christmas, held at the Castle of Muskogee. Take a drive through the kingdom's winter wonderland and enjoy over 2,000 displays in various holiday scenes ranging from four to 20 feet in height. Bring the whole family and hop on an old-fashioned, tractor-drawn hayride or snuggle up with someone special on a horse-drawn carriage ride throughout the Christmas village.
