Remembrance 2000

April 5-27, 2017 | 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

The Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art partners with the Tulsa Performing Arts Center to honor the late Michael Knigin and his show, “Remembrance 2000,” in the PAC Gallery during April. Knigin’s exhibit features 25 pieces across a series of images on canvas, all commemorating both dead and living heroes of the Holocaust. Knigin’s art serves as an ongoing reminder of the past and a step toward building a better future. “In my paintings and graphics, I seek to isolate objects and images from their mundane contexts and reorganize them, thereby granting them a new life,” said Knigin. “I select colors, textures and forms that complement the realistic images that I use. The elements reinforce the fact that I am creating something new, not merely replicating nature’s truths.” The gallery is open April 5-27, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and during all Chapman Music Hall events.

'Green Art, Red Wine'

April 6, 2017 | 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. April 28, 2017 | 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

“Green Art, Red Wine”; Your Design Gallery’s event celebrating Earth Day! “Green Art, Red Wine” will include artists that create sculpture, clothing, assemblages, wall art, and other artwork constructed from found objects. This theme solicits artwork made with common items that you would normally think to discard. Recycled art is something that is beautiful, unique and/or timeless… it just happens to be created with junk. Do these pieces of art really rate an art show and are they worth the purchase? Make plans to stop by and see for yourself! Opening night is set for April 6th, 2017 from 5:30 to 8:30pm at Your Design located at 211 S. Main St.; in the heart of the Rose District. There will be live local music, delicious food and wine provided for this event. This annual event is always open to the public and free of charge. Our goal is to introduce art to as many people as possible. Our hope is by experiencing these art shows and meeting the local artists the community is inspired and motivated to create for themselves. Our desire is to support and encourage local artists! The duration of the show is from April 6th – April 28th.

Tulsa Symphony – Brahms’ German Requiem-Featuring Tulsa Oratorio Chorus

April 8, 2017 | 7:30 - 10 p.m.

BRAHMS Ein Deutsches Requiem Tulsa Oratorio Chorus joins Tulsa Symphony on a work that became the central and longest work of Brahms’ career, the German Requiem. Unconvinced of man’s afterlife, Brahms composed this work after the deaths of his beloved friend and fellow composer Robert Schumann and then his own mother. Ein Deutsches Requiem was not intended as a mass for the dead as his contemporaries and earlier composers had written, but instead as a work of consolation for those left behind. James Bagwell, guest conductor Tulsa Oratorio Chorus Pre-concert conductor chat begins at 6:30 and student performances at 6:45. All are invited to attend the post-concert reception and meet the musicians and conductor! http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?organ_val=37848&pid=8223421&agency=TULSA_PAC
