Experienced mentors will guide participants through 12 weeks of progressive walk or walk/run workouts designed to help them finish a 5k Mock race. Professionals will educate on form, injury prevention, core strength, nutrition, and safety. RoCo Fit is free of charge to anyone 13 years old or older and live, work, play, or learn in Rogers County. Twice a week mentored workouts at Claremore Lake, weekly educational emails, and professional presentations all included in program. First and last workouts are a pre/post-mile and are held at Claremore High School Track - all other workouts are at Claremore Lake. Ending with a Mock 5k at Claremore Lake on June 8th.

Through simple, graceful movements that are easy to learn, Tai Chi builds physical stamina, improves one’s balance, muscular strength, postural control, self-confidence, memory, and reduces the likelihood of falling. The Eight Tai Chi Quan forms taught are adapted from 24 Simplified Forms of Tai Chi. According to CDC, Tai Chi Quan, if practiced regularly, is proven to reduce the risk of falls by 55%. Tai Chi Quan is a FREE 10-12 week program offered to anyone interested in improving their balance.

Come join us at Mohawk Park on April 15th as Parkside Psychiatric Hospital & Clinic hosts the By Your Side 5K. Parkside’s By Your Side Run promotes physical fitness, and all proceeds will benefit Parkside’s food pantry. In addition to the 5K, there will be a 1 Mile Fun Run/Dog Walk. The Laureate Institute for Brain Research is hosting a series of lectures focused on brain development in adolescents. This month's talk, taking place Thursday, April 27th from 6-8pm, will feature a special update on the progress of Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study, a 10-year national study of more than 12, 000 youth, include more than 600 families in the Tulsa area. Dr. Martin Paulus will speak on what the study has accomplished so far and where it plans to head next. Celebrating the Art of Healing is an annual day of hope, inspiration and education for cancer patients and survivors, along with the families, friends and medical professionals who care for them. The 2017 event will be Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Tulsa. Celebrating the Art of Healing, now in its 13th year, is a community collaboration to promote healthy behaviors and activities that enrich the quality of life for those who face the challenges of cancer. Sponsors include St. John Health System, Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, CTCA, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Saint Francis Health System, Saint Francis Hospice, and Bette and Wynn Wozobski. The purpose of the fair will be to give medical advice/services to parishioners and the surrounding community, to include medical screens, labs, measurement of physical parameters, optometry screening, dental screening, possible immunizations, and medical preventative information for children, adults, and seniors.
