Bowling For Rhinos 2019

August 4, 2019 | 5:30 - 9 p.m.

Tulsa American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) is excited to host our 17th annual Bowling For Rhinos (BFR) fundraising event at Broken Arrow Lanes on Sunday, Aug 4th. Check-in begins at 5:30pm, bowling kicks off at 6pm. BFR supports 3 rhino conservation projects conserving all 5 rhino species in the wilds of Africa & Asia. 100% of proceeds collected are sent to Lewa Wildlife National Park in Kenya, Ujung Kulon National Park in Java, Indonesia & Bukit Barisan Selaton National Park (BBSNP) in Sumatra, Indonesia. To date, the Tulsa Chapter of AAZK has raised over $145,000.00 for rhinos. With your help, we can continue to help keep these species alive! We are proud to be celebrating 17 years of Rhino Conservation with a Team Rhino themed party. Do you have a favorite sports team or a favorite sport? Dress in your favorite sporty gear or as your favorite athlete- the best costume will win a prize! This event includes 3 hours of unlimited bowling & shoe rental, an entry for a door prize per individual bowler, and access to our silent auction. Food and refeshments will be provided by Papa Johns Pizza, Nothing Bundt Cakes and DoubleShot Coffee Co. All food and refreshments will be free until supplies last and first come first serve. Please note that our food items are donated and as a result special dietary restrictions such as vegan and/or gluten free options cannot be guaranteed. Since this event is a benefit, we encourage everyone to collect sponsorships/donations to help raise more money for protecting rhinos. If you are interested in an event shirt, we can only guarantee sizes to those that purchase, or make a donation, prior to July 21st! Register now as a single bowler (with or without a shirt) or register multiple bowlers to form a team with up to 6 bowlers per lane. Unable to join us that evening? Please consider making a donation by becoming a Rhino Philanthropist. All Rhino Philanthropist donations of $25 or more will recieve a shirt. Remember extinction is FOREVER. Endangered means there is still time.

NSBA World Championship Show & Breeders Championship Futurity

August 9-18, 2019 | 7:30 a.m.

The National Snaffle Bit Association is proud to present the Breeders Championship Futurity! This program is designed to appeal to all pleasure horse breeders, owners, trainers, and exhibitors by offering a full slate of classes and paybacks. The Breeders Championship Futurity (BCF) is held each year in conjunction with the NSBA World Championship Show. Classes Offered A variety of classes are offered during the Breeders Championship Futurity. Enrolled horses are eligible to show from their yearling year to their six year old year. Yearlings Western Pleasure Hunter Under Saddle Trail & Western Riding Color Horses Depending on the Yearling eligibility, they will be qualified to show in the following divisions: Western Longe Line - Open & Non Pro Hunter Longe Line - Open & Non Pro Beginning in 2018 for Color Breeders Championship Futurity yearlings: Open Non Pro Exhibitors An exhibitor may show as many horses in as many classes as they are eligible for in each division. NSBA membership is required for all owners and exhibitors. Packback of Purse The Stallion nominator receives 20%, the foal nominator receives 10%, and the foal owner received 70% of foal earnings. In the event the foal ownership changes, the original nominator will receive the 10% earnings. Each year, over $200,000 is paid out during the BCF. The payback schedule for each foal crop year will be paid out as follows (after program expenses). Yearling Longe Line - 15% 2 Year Old Western Pleasure & Hunter Under Saddle - 20% 3 Year Old Western Pleasure & Hunter Under Saddle - 30% 4-6 Year Old Western Pleasure & Hunter Under Saddle - 20% 4-6 Year Old Trail & Western Riding Division - 10% Color Division - 5% Eligibility To be eligible to participate in the BCF Program, a horse must be sired by a stallion who was nominated to the BCF during its foaling year. If eligible, horses may be enrolled at any time beginning as weanlings through their three year old year. Weanling enrollments begin at one time payment of $125 and increase with the age of horse. The BCF also offers a sliding scale for multiple foal enrollments. Upon completion of an enrollment, foal owners will be sent a Certificate of Eligibility. This certificate will need to be presented in order to show in any BCF classes Certificate of Eligibility Once the enrollment form has been received and validated and a copy of the breed registration papers have been forwarded to the NSBA office, a Certificate of Eligibility is mailed to the foal owner. The Certificate must be current when the horse is shown. Any changes in information will need to be forwarded to the NSBA office, along with a transfer form. The fee of changes including those listed below $35. Please note that a copy of the horse's registration papers showing the current ownership must accompany the transfer form. Operation Aware Golf Tournament

Tee off at Cedar Ridge Golf Club to support Operation Aware’s 13th Annual Golf Tournament. Proceeds fund prevention education courses for schools in Tulsa Metro and beyond. Free Introduction to Fencing Class

August 27, 2019

Weary of that old workout routine? Bored with basketball? Soccer getting stale? How about the sport of kings? Try FENCING! Give us 2 hours and we'll give you an active, physically and mentally demanding new past-time. If you love it (and we know you will), you can sign up for our 4-week Beginning Fencing class which starts the following Tuesday. So grab some friends, register for the class, head for the Southminster Presbyterian Church Community Center and get ready to rumble! This class is open to anyone ages 10 and up. TFC will provide all the gear, and after some quick instruction, you'll be playing the game of steel! Pre-registration required; space limited; no repeat participants, please. Participants under age 18 require adult consent.
