Thursday April 23, Friday April 24, & Saturday April 25, 2026 10:00 am – 7:00 p.m. CLAREMORE, OK – Shepherd’s Cross, an authentic working sheep farm and Agritourism facility, invites the public to "Woolly Weekend," a premier "sheep to shawl" festival. Located just north of Claremore on Scenic Route 66, this three-day event offers a rare opportunity to witness the complete lifecycle of natural fiber production in a family-friendly farm setting. At the heart of the event is the "Sheep to Shawl" demonstration. Visitors can watch as sheep are shorn throughout the day, followed immediately by processing that very fiber. Over the course of the weekend, artisans will comb, spin, weave, knit, crochet, and felt the raw wool into at least two finished shawls. “It is rare to find a true sheep to shawl experience,” says the team at Shepherd's Cross. “We want to invite the community to see the journey of wool from the back of a sheep to a finished masterpiece.” Event Highlights: • Live Shearing & Demonstrations: Witness professional shearing and wool processing inside the historic Amish-built tour barn. • Educational Opportunities: Short Course Fiber Classes are available for those interested in learning drop spindling, hand carding, needle felting, or weaving. • Family Fun: Children can enjoy a petting barn, the interactive Farm Museum, a four-story observation silo, and hands-on activities including games and a coloring contest. • The Farm Store/Farmer’s Market Hub: Browse handmade crafts from over 90 local artisans, mission-based goods from around the world, and Animal Welfare Approved farm-fresh meats. Woolly Weekend is hosted by Heart of the Shepherd, a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to teaching agricultural principles. The event is free to the public, though a donation of $5 per person is suggested to support the mission. Shepherd’s Cross is a "Made in Oklahoma" company and an Agritourism destination. As an Animal Welfare Approved farm, it provides a healthy, sustainable environment for its flock and offers educational classes in fiber arts and animal husbandry year-round. Event Details: • Location: Shepherd’s Cross, 16792 E 450 Rd, Claremore, OK • Registration: Groups of 20 or more are encouraged to pre-register. • Volunteers: Fiber artists (spinners, weavers, knitters) are invited to join the Sheep to Shawl Team.
