Writing Unforgettable Characters Workshop

Every Wednesday | 7 - 9 p.m.
November 1, 2023

Writing Unforgettable Characters | 4-week workshop Starts October 11 from 7-9 p.m. and meets weekly through November 1 Registration required at https://bit.ly/3qMpCHi In this workshop we’ll practice techniques from the world of improv, sketch writing, and acting that are helpful for writing unique characters into scripts and sketches, or for use in such stage formats as a one-person show, stand-up, drag, impressions, etc. There will be a focus on persona and POV. You’ll end our time together having received feedback on at least one character that will bring something special to your project, leaving readers and audiences eager to read and see more. Registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9. A limited number of scholarships are occasionally available for those with financial need. Will Rogers Days and Motion Picture Festival

November 1-4, 2023

Join us as we celebrate the 144th Birthday of Will Rogers! The Will Rogers Motion Picture Festival celebrates film and Western heritage icon Will Rogers, an Oologah native. Visit the Will Rogers Memorial Museum to screen a diverse array of films at the Motion Picture Festival, held in honor of Will Rogers' first movie and his far-reaching popularity in the dawn of his day. Sit back and watch local, national and international films competing for the Dog Iron Award. Check out the parade held at 3:00p.m. on November 4th.

The Woolaroc Retrospective Exhibit & Sale

November 1-30, 2023

First Friday Art Crawl

November 3, 2023 | 6 - 9 p.m.

Since 2007, the Tulsa Arts District has presented the community with rotating art displays as part of the monthly First Friday Art Crawl events. Every first Friday of the month, visitors can explore artwork inside galleries, studios and museums and catch a few live music performances or even an exciting fireworks display. As an added bonus, art crawlers can take advantage of free museum and gallery admission while shopping later than normal business hours would allow. Hit the district early for dinner, or stay a little later for a craft cocktail best enjoyed on an outdoor patio.

Creek County OHCE Quilt & Craft Show

November 3-4, 2023 | 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

See colorful, creative handmade quilts on display during the Creek County OHCE Quilt & Craft Show in Kellyville. Many categories of quilts will be represented at this show, including traditional pieced, embroidery, applique and mixed techniques. The show will also feature baby quilts, bed-size quilts, wall hangings and wearable art among other unique quilted items. Browse vendor booths as well as the country store, and watch demonstrations on different quilting techniques. Parking is free, and a tea room will also be available for refreshments.

Comic Book Writing Workshop

Comic Book Writing | 4-week workshop Starts November 8 from 7-9 p.m. and meets weekly through December 6 Registration required at https://bit.ly/46cwxsn In this course, you’ll develop and receive feedback on a short comic book script, learning techniques for shaping interesting characters and telling a great story visually. About the instructor Tvli Jacob, a member of the Choctaw Nation, is a filmmaker, comic book writer, and researcher, serving as Clinical Assistant Professor at OSU Center for Health Sciences. Having worked with tribes throughout the United States and Canada, Dr. Jacob has used media content through community-based participatory research media methods. He has collaborated on several creative projects, including film shorts (American Indian Graffiti: This Thing Life, Ronnie BoDean) and the graphic novel Rez Detectives. Registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6. A limited number of scholarships are occasionally available for those with financial need. Art Crawl on 66
