Writing Unforgettable Characters Workshop
Every Wednesday | 7 - 9 p.m.
November 1, 2023
Writing Unforgettable Characters | 4-week workshop Starts October 11 from 7-9 p.m. and meets weekly through November 1 Registration required at https://bit.ly/3qMpCHi In this workshop we’ll practice techniques from the world of improv, sketch writing, and acting that are helpful for writing unique characters into scripts and sketches, or for use in such stage formats as a one-person show, stand-up, drag, impressions, etc. There will be a focus on persona and POV. You’ll end our time together having received feedback on at least one character that will bring something special to your project, leaving readers and audiences eager to read and see more. Registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9. A limited number of scholarships are occasionally available for those with financial need. Pumpkin Festival at Shepherd's Cross & Heart of the Shepherd

Pumpkin Festival at Shepherd’s Cross & Heart of the Shepherd September 26 – November 4, 2023 Tuesday – Saturday 9:00 am - 6:30 pm Open Monday, October 30th Join Shepherd’s Cross and Heart of the Shepherd for their annual Pumpkin Festival. Enjoy a peaceful day in the country at an authentic working sheep farm, located just north of Claremore off Route 66. Filled with family-friendly activities with no scares. Loads of pumpkins in all shapes, sizes, and colors for purchase, starting at $1.50 each. Admission and parking are free. The only pay-for activity is the Wagon Ride. Enjoy a tractor-pulled wagon ride on a ramp-loading trailer through the hay meadow. Wagon ride tickets are available for $6.50 per person; 2 and under are free. Wagon rides are every 30 minutes. There are over 60 free activities to enjoy on the farm. Explore the walk-through Pumpkin Patch with Hay Maze and Game Area. Pet sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, and alpacas in the Farm Animal Barn petting area. Walk the Bible Garden and see pumpkins growing on the vine surrounded by sunflowers and fall flowers. All new this year is our QR Code Scavenger Hunt. Look around the farm for QR codes to scan and watch short videos about farming and shepherding. Pumpkin Packages are available to purchase, which include a pumpkin (size of pumpkin varies with type of package), wagon ride, and a take-home craft or bring some old clothes to make your own scarecrow. Packages start at $9.50 per person. Inside the Amish-built barn browse the gift shop with handmade décor, gifts, and wares from 60 local consignors as well as local honey, meat, and eggs; explore the Farm Museum and Silo with the all new animated Percy the Perfect Pumpkin story time, and watch fiber demonstrations in the Wool Mill. There are modern indoor restrooms. Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritourism facility, a Made in Oklahoma Company, and a Grass-Fed, Grass-Finished Animal Welfare Approved farm. Heart of the Shepherd is the non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm. Heart of the Shepherd teaches Biblical references to the harvest, the animals, farming, and gardening. Because of their generosity, admission to Pumpkin Festival is free and operates by donations. Suggested donation is $5 per person; suggested, not required. All donations benefit Heart of the Shepherd’s international and local mission outreach programs.

Oklahoma Heritage Farm Fall Festival
November 1-5, 2023
Celebrate autumn with a trip to the Oklahoma Heritage Farm Fall Festival in Ramona. Visitors can will enjoy more than thirty acres covered with games, rides, activities, animals and entertainment. At this annual event, a real working farm transforms into a great family outdoor adventure for six weeks every fall. Plan to make it a full day with picnic shelters, fire pits, shopping, concessions, country store shopping and entertainment on the grounds. Conclude your visit with a run through a 10-acre maze designed for the real maze enthusiast and a mini-maze for the younger children. The Woolaroc Retrospective Exhibit & Sale

First Friday Art Crawl

Since 2007, the Tulsa Arts District has presented the community with rotating art displays as part of the monthly First Friday Art Crawl events. Every first Friday of the month, visitors can explore artwork inside galleries, studios and museums and catch a few live music performances or even an exciting fireworks display. As an added bonus, art crawlers can take advantage of free museum and gallery admission while shopping later than normal business hours would allow. Creek County OHCE Quilt & Craft Show

Guthrie Ghost Walk

Guthrie Ghost Walk The Guthrie Ghost Walk will take you through part of the nation's largest historic district, focusing on Downtown Guthrie. The Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club “Hats off to Will”

“Hats off to Will” is an annual tribute tradition honored by The Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club the first Saturday of November to honor Will Roger’s birthday - and this year, it falls on his actual birthday, November 4th! Will’s favorite foods are served; and there is a hat contest, in which women individually decorate their hats; the voted favorite recieves a $50 gift certificate. Straight No Chaser: Sleighin’ It Tour

Initially formed at Indiana University, a cappella group Straight No Chaser emerged at the forefront of the modern-day a cappella movement and has since sold more than three million albums worldwide, garnered more than a billion streams on Pandora alone, and sold more than 1.5 million concert tickets worldwide. In the fall of 2022, the group performed in more than 60 cities across the US with multiple sold-out shows, including their 26th consecutive sell-out in Indianapolis. Their holiday-themed “Sleighing’ It Tour” is coming to the Chapman Music Hall stage!

The City of Owasso has a number of events planned for Veterans Day, 2023. The Veterans Appreciation Week will include events such as the Veterans Appreciation Ceremony, Veterans Appreciation Concert, and a free Veterans Meet & Greet Breakfast. Having worked with tribes throughout the United States and Canada, Dr. Jacob has used media content through community-based participatory research media methods. He has collaborated on several creative projects, including film shorts (American Indian Graffiti: This Thing Life, Ronnie BoDean) and the graphic novel Rez Detectives. Majeste Pearson will be the guest artist for the production, Deloris Van Carter and Mark LeHouiller will play Monsignor O’ Hara, The auditions will consist of cold reading from the script and singing 16-32 measures of a musical song. Rhema Christmas Lights

Join thousands of annual visitors at the Rhema Christmas Lights and witness over three million shimmering lights synchronized to Christmas music across 110 acres. This much-loved lights display in Broken Arrow began in 1982 and has been attracting visitors ever since. Experience the wonder of illuminated festive figures like a gingerbread family with lollipops and gumdrops, Noah's ark with animals, 3D angels and reindeer, a Christmas tree forest, a 50-figure nativity scene and more. Visitors to the Rhema Christmas Lights can drive through the lights in their own vehicle, get out of the car and walk around the park, or view the spectacular displays from a horse-drawn carriage. Don't miss the Rhema Park bridge, complete with over 90,000 lights draped across the bridge alone. Synchronized to both classic and modern Christmas music, these lights have delighted visitors of all ages. Polar Express Pajama Party

Historic authenticity meets holiday festivity during A Territorial Christmas Celebration, an annual tradition for over 35 years. From a costumed Christmas parade to Victorian home tours, this celebration immerses visitors in the city's lively Territorial period. Watch as decorated floats covered in lights make their way through downtown in the Guthrie Christmas Parade. After the parade ends, the new Territorial Governor will be announced at the post office. During Guthrie's Victorian Walk Evenings, visitors will step back into the Victorian era with carolers in early-1900s dress and decorated store windows complete with re-enactors depicting Victorian-era Guthrie. Pick up some tasty treats from peanut vendors lining the downtown streets. Other activities scheduled for A Territorial Christmas Celebration include the Distinctive Homes Tour, featuring homes decorated in the style of the early 20th century. This event is a perfect family-friendly getaway this holiday season.
