Navigating Long-Term Care Options

LIFE Senior Services presents Navigating Long-Term Care Options to help older adults and their caregivers learn about senior living options ranging from independent living to assisted living, nursing facilities and multi-level communities. Program leaders will review the benefits offered by each type of living, as well as payment structures, prices and affordable options. There will even be a discussion of community resources available for families who choose not to utilize long-term care options. Dealing with Dementia

December 10, 2019 | 1 - 5:30 p.m.

LIFE Senior Services presents Dealing with Dementia to help caregivers and others involved with older adults by sharing best practices for dementia caregiving and ideas for solving problems associated with dementia behaviors. We'll even explore tips and tools for self-care and provide a comprehensive guide to caregiving. Respite is available during the program at the LIFE Senior Center Adult Day Health Center at 5950 E. 31st St. Respite care is free, but we do ask for 24 hours advance notice. Call LIFE Senior Services, ext. 1171 to arrange free respite care during seminar or ext. 1181 to reserve your spot in the seminar.

Laughter Yoga

December 11, 2019 | 1 - 2 p.m.

Interested in feeling better? Laughter Yoga is a fun, easy, low-impact exercise that improves physical and mental health. Most exercises are chair-based and all exercises can be modified for different fitness levels. You don't even need a yoga mat. The next session is December 11th at LaFortune Community Center, 5202 S. Tulsa Hub Winter Bike Sale

This will include our selection of BMX bikes and frames, tandems, vintage road bikes, cruisers, and mountain bikes All proceeds will go to fund Tulsa Hub's mission-critical work of creating a Tulsa which has mobility equity through equipping people with the education and resources to use cycling as a dignified form of transportation. Ethical Considerations & the Age Wave

December 19, 2019 | 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.

LIFE Senior Services presents a professional education program focusing on the mental health needs of older adults in "Ethical Considerations & the Age Wave." The seminar is designed for professionals who work with the senior population, such as nurses, behavioral health specialists, long-term care personnel and case managers. Special attention will focus on serving seniors with mental health challenges. We'll also review abuse, neglect and exploitation and address how the lack of power and control looks and feels. Reservations are required and three hours of Ethics CEs are offered. Registrations received by December 13 are only $49. After that, the fee is $65.
