Summer Internship Program at Shepherd’s Cross

Heart of the Shepherd’s Intern / Apprentice Program at Shepherd’s Cross Summer Semester May – Mid-Aug or Early Sept. The internship program at the farm equips students with basic farming skills and with Biblical references to farming and shepherding. Students are taught historical agriculture, mixed with a healthy appreciation for industrialized agriculture and exposed to agricultural parables found in The Bible. Shepherd’s Cross is a working sheep farm. There are many other animals and activities on the farm. Other areas of the farm include a Farm Museum, a Farm Store, Wool Mill, and Bible Garden. The internship is under the direction of Dr. Diane Dickinson, an agriculturalist with a Bachelor’s in Agriculture, a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and over five decades of farm and livestock experience. She serves as an on-site veterinarian and operates a veterinary care unit on the farm. The summer semester is the busiest Bible Garden season to intern, as this is harvest season. Educate visitors on growing, harvesting, and using seasonal produce as part of our outreach program. This is weaning season for the lambs, and summer grass range season for the ewes. Experience is advantageous but not required. High school or college students as well as any age adult are welcome to apply. College credit may be received for students enrolled in college classes. Following successful completion of the Internship, the student may apply for the Apprentice/Residency Program. This program allows the student to remain at the farm for eight additional months to experience all the activities of a farm year. Internships are full or part time and live on-site or live off-site. Compensation for internships may include room, board, and a monthly monetary stipend. The stipend is not a salary, and it is performance based.

Sensory Night at the Oklahoma Aquarium

Join us at the Oklahoma Aquarium for Sensory Awareness Evenings on the 1st Tuesday of each month. With low lights & quiet music, you & your little & big humans alike can explore the Oklahoma Aquarium without the usual crowd-perfect for people that get peopled out easily! Each month has a self-guided scavenger hunt with a prize for everyone that completes it! This event is free with general admission or Oklahoma Aquarium membership.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Support Group

Tulsa World Fall Career Fair

Spin-n-Knit-In

September 13, 2025 | 1 - 4 p.m.

On the second Saturday of each month, drop by the farm to watch or participate as we fellowship and work hand crafts and fiber arts. Bring a craft to work on or come for a "free help session" with fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, or felting. Shepherd’s Cross offers weaving and fiber arts classes year-round, on an individual or group basis. Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritourism facility and a Made in Oklahoma Company that processes Animal Welfare Approved fiber (that is chemical free, hormone free, free range, all natural). Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, processing wool from their own sheep, raised on site. Heart of the Shepherd is the non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm and establishes wool mills in remote, impoverished areas around the world. Heart of the Shepherd teaches Biblical references to the harvest, the animals, farming, and gardening. Shepherd’s Cross and their unique Country Craft Shop is open Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 – 5:30, year-round (closed some holidays).

Tulsa Foundation of Architecture Tours: Boulder on the Park

Take a fun and educational walking tour through downtown Tulsa and other historical local sites during Second Saturday Architecture Tours, hosted by the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture. These monthly walking tours will give you an insightful look into the exciting architecture and prestigious collections that you may pass by every day. Sites include Tulsa's various Art Deco buildings, The Church Studio, the Blue Dome District, America's Crossroads in Sapulpa and much more.

National Alpaca Farm Days

September 27-28, 2025 | 12 - 4 p.m.

Come spend some time with our charmingly curious alpacas. They just love visitors, especially those who feed them! If you’d like to feed the alpacas, feed will be available for $1.00 per bowl. We will be limiting it to 1 bowl per customer so that the alpacas won’t fill up too quickly. This year also marks the Grand Opening of our new Farm Store, located inside an air conditioned building. This store will be open for shopping during all tours from now on or for people who just want to shop. Attendees will receive an Alpaca Scavenger Hunt sheet to complete while they are here. Participants can bring their completed sheet to the farm store for a small prize. Drop in anytime between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm on September 27th or 28th! As always, entry is free!
