Step back in time to the 16th century with Queen Elizabeth I of England and over 400 entertainers and artisans as they create the boisterous Village of Castleton at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival. Held at the Castle of Muskogee, this beloved annual event features a royal court, jousters and jesters, magicians, musicians, and minstrels. Delight your taste buds with wonderful and unique foods or browse through more than 125 handcrafted booths for one-of-a-kind items. Bring the entire family and enjoy a day in Renaissance England. Journey to an age of sorcerers, knights in shining armor, kings, queens, and maidens fair. When planning your voyage to Castleton, it is important to note, costumes are encouraged. On any festival day, patrons may discover guests dressed as fairies, Renaissance villagers and nobles, Sci-fi characters and even pirates. There will be living history demonstrations and marvelous live performances, like a life-size game of chess played by characters, a jousting tournament, thrilling acrobatic feats, KnightWings Birds of Prey and more. A children's realm featuring games and hands-on demonstrations provides hours of fun. Kids may visit the Ultimate Maze and take part in the Royal Quest and the Children's Knighting Ceremony. Guests can enjoy a wide variety of food and drink at one of the many merchants stationed throughout the festival grounds. Special evening events include the Masque'd Ball and The Pirate's Feaste.

This Spring,the Bartlesville Area History Museum is proud to present: “Our Oily Past” on display from April 1st through July 1st, the exhibit takes visitors on a journey exploring the successes of H.V. Foster and how he turned visions of wealth into revolutionizing the nation’s energy industry by taking over the development of the oil and natural gas Blanket Leases which was then controlled by the business, the Indian Territory Illuminating Oil company (I.T.I.O). The exhibit will feature various artifacts from local oil companies like I.T.I.O and youngsters or the “young at heart” may enjoy our history of oil coloring station and gander through BAHMs turn of the century Nelson Carr One-Room School! Museum admission is free, but donations are always welcome. No reservation is necessary.

This 3-week workshop will be held on the following Mondays: 6/3, 6/10, and 6/17/2024 from 7-9pm at OSU-Tulsa in person with Zoom option: *first meeting will occur on Zoom* Learn more and register at https://bit.ly/4bFDGVr In this class, we'll explore local subjects (Oklahoma, broadly and Tulsa, more particularly) that can serve as inspirations for lively history writing. Students will learn basic historical methodologies through fun activities, while also focusing on the craft of writing and editing. Students do not need any background in history or journalism. We welcome genealogists, memoir writers, community activists, and truth-seekers of all persuasions. The only requirement is curiosity about Oklahoma themes and issues. Since 2007, the Tulsa Arts District has presented the community with rotating art displays as part of the monthly First Friday Art Crawl events. Held in the hometown of Cyrus Avery, known as the Father of Route 66, this celebration promises a weekend packed with fun for everyone. Start off the festival with a Friday night block party featuring live music, food trucks, and free activities for kids and families. The fun continues Saturday morning with a car, truck and motorcycle show, kids power wheels parade, sidewalk chalk contest, shopping, live entertainment and more fun for kids. After the festival, stick around to explore area attractions like the Eastern Trails Museum and the Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural Center.

The Green Corn Festival is an old-fashioned, fun family festival held in downtown Bixby. This annual event hearkens back to days of family picnics, afternoons filled with bright summer sun and sipping lemonade with friends. Enjoy a weekend full of carnival rides, a pageant, live music and much more. Other activities scheduled for the festival include an antique tractor pull, corn-eating contest, watermelon seed spitting contest, balloon toss and more.
