Join River Parks and Turkey Mountain for National Trails Day on June 1st. There will be guided hikes leaving hourly from the lower lot near the restrooms and Turkey Mtn Sign from 8am to 1pm. 6850 S. Elwood Ave. Thanks to Ascension St. John, the first 400 hikers will receive a special edition Turkey Mtn National Trails Day Water Bottle! Hikes will be approximately 3 miles and last 1.5 hours. Not recommended for those with mobility or breathing issues. There is some sections of steep grade and 100 feet (10-story building) of elevation gain.

Follow the butterfly trail June 2, 2024, 2-3:30 pm. Join Compassion Women’s Center in releasing butterflies in a remembrance ceremony to honor babies lost through miscarriages, stillbirths or as infants. Hosted by the Master Gardeners Association of Rogers County at their Teaching Garden at Will Rogers Park. Ceremony will begin at 2:45 pm. Reserve a butterfly for your family to release by texting “Butterfly” to 918-475-0500 or call 918-923-2085.

Attend a talk by poet and writer Layli Long Soldier at the Oklahoma Center for the Humanities in Tulsa. Long Soldier has written numerous poems that have appeared in publications including Poetry Magazine, The New York Times, The American Poet and many more. She has received numerous awards for her writings and is currently a mentor in the creative writing program at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The evening will conclude with a reading from Long Soldier's published collections and a book signing.

Please drop off your donations at the barn Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 am – 5:30 pm through June 1st. Huge, Multi-Family Garage Sale of donated articles including appliances, antiques, farming items, furniture, wall décor, housewares, DVDs, farm and garden items, children’s games and toys, home decorator items, bedding, office supplies, books, and collectibles, as well as clothing for the entire family. Sale benefits Farming Missions, Starter Flocks, and Wool Mills in remote locations around the world. A tax-deductible receipt is provided upon request. Plant Exchange: Bring a plant to leave and take a plant home. Plant selections will include bulbs, tubers, bushes, trees, grasses, seeds, herbs and much more! This is a great way to expand your garden. Please be prepared to identify the plant you leave with its name, color, and planting characteristics. Great fun! This year, we have the Master Gardener Association joining us. They will have a table set up and will be glad to talk all about the plants, including care and upkeep. Bring your pup on this special day when dogs can join you for a walk (and sniffs!) in the Garden. We’ll have free pup cups while supplies last. Dogs must be up to date on all registrations and vaccinations and must be always controlled on a non-retractable 6′ leash. Owners are required to clean up after their pups. Maximum of 2 dogs per household. Please bring your own water bowl.
