We're super excited about the success of our friends in Sapulpa with their Route 66 Christmas Chute. Although we may not have a million dollars to invest in our downtown at this time, we do know that our businesses have the biggest HEARTS! This year the City of Collinsville is sponsoring a Valentine’s Day Window/Storefront Decorating Contest. Our very own SHOOT! The CUPID SHOOT! All businesses with sidewalk-facing windows are eligible to enter. We hope that all of our businesses will decide to do something in their windows that will encourage people to stop and see all there is to LOVE in Collinsville! Voting will be done by the public via a QR code that we will deliver on Monday. This year we have changed the voting process and are requiring a selfie in front of the window of choice in order for the VOTE to count. Photos will be attached to the QR VOTING form. Votes will be taken for 1 week until February 12. The winner will be announced on Valentines Day, February 13. Winners will be announced on Thursday (February 13). Businesses are encouraged to begin decorating their windows as soon as possible. Judging will be based on originality, use of space, overall creativity, and other factors as determined by the public. Everyone who votes will entered in the drawing for the gift basket with goodies from all the participating businesses.

Go behind the scenes of history during the Tulsa Chautauqua. Held on the grounds of the Tulsa Historical Society & Museum, this thought-provoking program offers multiple days of workshops, living history events and nightly entertainment. This year's Chautauqua theme is "Lift Every Voice: Sixty Years Since the Civil Rights Act." Five talented scholars will deliver entertaining, insightful and educational historical presentations and workshops. Each scholar has extensively researched the famous, infamous or obscure visionary they portray, to realistically recount the lifetime experiences of these remarkable figures in period costumes. This year, scholars will portray historic figures Earl Warren, Rosa Parks, Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson, Thurgood Marshall and Coretta Scott King. Workshop-goers frequently bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy during breaks. Each night, a different scholar will give a presentation in character followed by a Q&A session from the audience, first in character, then as a scholar. Local musicians will entertain the audience briefly before each evening's performance. A variety of snacks will be available for purchase. Make an evening of it and enjoy the ambiance of a summer night under the tent while immersing yourself in history. Hours: Daily workshops at 12pm & 5:30pm., Scholar presentations start at 7pm.

The purpose of this program is to foster literacy within our community and to encourage conversation about a meaningful book. This year’s selection is by Mateo Askaripour, a recipient of the National Book Foundation's “5 Under 35” prize. This Great Hemisphere is a powerful, captivating novel about how far we'll go to protect the ones we love. Join us on the first floor of Central Library for a discussion of Askaripour's book. Following his presentation, the author will answer questions from the audience and sign books. Books will be available for purchasing, courtesy of Fulton Street Books. E-mail eat34@eau34eav34eaw34 for more details. Sponsored by the Tulsa Library Trust.
