Walk MS: Tulsa

April 6, 2019

Walk MS: Tulsa is an annual walk event held every spring to raise funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. The walk has a 1 mile and 3 mile option for participants to choose from with rest stops along the long route. Sponsors and vendors are set up at the event, giving away promotional items and information about their companies. There is music by a local DJ and food on-site, usually donated by local restaurants. The funds raised go to research for Multiple Sclerosis to determine a cause of the disease and to develop better treatment for those affected; education about how it can affect a person's life, family, and friends; and programs and services for those living with MS and their caregivers.

Rogers County Medicine Disposal

April 6 & 20, 2019 | 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

April in Rogers County is a time to get rid of waste.Along with this, Volunteers for Youth will be set up to take your old or unneeded medicine at two events, April 6 in Claremore and April 20 in Oologah. We will be partnering with Oologah,Community Connections, Rogers County Sheriffs Department and students from RSU Criminal Justice Society to host these dates. Disposing of all unused and unneeded medications is one of the easiest ways to keep your family from misusing medicine not prescribed for them. Next to marijuana, prescriptions medications are the most common drugs teens and other family members are abusing. For this years event, we will also be accepting needles, thanks to the Partnership for Success funding. All needles should be placed in sharps containers or other hard plastic like laundry or bleach bottles. Needles are never accepted at the permanent disposal boxes located throughout the county at Claremore, Oologah, Catoosa, Chelsea and Inola Police Departments,as well as Rogers County Sheriffs Department. Parents and other family members are in the best position to reduce access to prescription drugs by locking up medicines and properly disposing of expired or unused medicines. Claremore- April 6, 9 am to 12 pm Claremore Industrial Park off Lowrey Oologah, April 20, 9 am to 12 pm The Gazebo Parking lot in Oologah across for Police Department For questions about this event, contact Amy Graham @ eat17@eau17eav17eaw17. The rest of the performance is filled with "stage and screen" tap dancing and modern movement with music from the Freedom Singers. Oklahoma Performing Arts provides an opportunity to fill the gap that is being left in arts education for students and families. Every season we strive to add more free workshops, classes, programs, and presentations to share the performing arts and offer opportunities for families. Our goal is to provide the gift of an arts education and experience that will develop character and foster the growth of humanity with interpersonal communication and leadership skills that last a lifetime. Sharklahoma is a collaboration between the Oklahoma Aquarium and the Jenks Chamber of Commerce to celebrate our community and its local businesses, while also raising awareness about the ecological and economic importance of sharks. Given the importance of sharks to Jenks and beyond, the Jenks Chamber of Commerce met with the Oklahoma Aquarium in 2018 to create a celebration of these sharks and the incredible community where you can see them. The result was “Sharklahoma”—a month-long celebration of all-things shark, with events at the Oklahoma Aquarium and several other supportive local businesses throughout Jenks. The Oklahoma Aquarium is home to the only bull shark exhibit in the Western Hemisphere. With 10 bull sharks on exhibit, it is also the world’s largest collection of bull sharks. This exhibit, amongst others, has earned the Oklahoma Aquarium media attention from around the globe. Since opening in 2003, the Oklahoma Aquarium has been a great source of pride and economic growth for the city of Jenks. The bull sharks have also participated in important research projects to help humans and other sharks in captivity.

So come and party with a pupose - drink a beer and save a bird. The food...AMAZING. Sample fare from more than 45 of Tulsa's best restaurants. It doesn't get any better than this! THE PURPOSE BEHIND THE PARTY Wild Brew is the annual fundraiser for the Sutton Avian Research Center. We're the organization that brought back the Bald Eagle to the state of Oklahoma.
