Join us for a spectacular evening of dazzling lights, colors, shapes, and themes. The Lantern Light festival is a six week celebration of Chinese culture featuring massive lanterns, inspiring performances, and incredible cuisine. A tradition that started over 2,000 years ago, the lantern festival is China’s most important celebration, marking the return of spring, with the lighting of Chinese lanterns being symbolic of illuminating the future and the reunion of family. While many people picture lanterns being released into the night sky, these enormous lanterns stay firmly on the ground. Each Chinese lantern is custom-built by Chinese artisans and typically takes four weeks and a team of seven to complete. The lanterns appear to be three-dimensional stained glass, and are handmade from hundreds of pieces of silky cloth. Some are over 30 feet high and others are up to 300 feet long. If you enjoy an evening full of festive lights and amazing sights, bring your family to the Lantern Light Festival, a rare opportunity to witness the majestic skill of the world’s best lantern-makers. Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University’s President’s Performing Arts and Lecture Series is excited to bring one of the world’s foremost violinists to Tulsa’s Performing Arts Center. Award-winning Canadian violinist James Ehnes will perform February 15, 2018 at 7pm in the John H. Williams Theatre. Ehnes won a Grammy Award in the ‘Best Instrumental Soloist Performance’ category for his recording of Korngold, Barber and Walter violin concertos. He’s also been awarded a Gramophone Award for his live recording of the Elgar Concerto with Sir Andrew Davis and the Philharmonia Orchestra. In 2009 the Times (London) wrote that “no collection of virtuoso showpieces demands greater technical prowess than Paganini’s 24 Caprices. Yet James Ehnes, whose artistry suggests that in Paganini’s age he would have enjoyed similar stature to the great man, succeeds impressively in being more than merely thrilling…this is not simply a high-wire act. It’s playing of phenomenal control, allied to musicianship of the highest order.” Ehnes began violin studies at the age of four and became a protégé of the noted Canadian violinist Francis Chaplin when he was nine. He made his orchestral debut at 13 and graduated from The Juilliard School in 1997. Tickets for this concert must be purchased, either by calling 918-596-7111 or by going online to tulsapac.com. The cost ranges from $35 to $100, with the $100 tickets including a meet-and-greet with James Ehnes before the concert. Dress is Business Professional. It is sure to be a night to remember.

BROKEN ARROW COMMUNITY PLAYHOUSE Presents “Daddy’s Dyin’ Who’s Got the Will?” A comedy by Del Shores Tickets are on sale Now at www.bacptheatre.com or Call our Box Office 918-258-0077 to reserve your seats today! Lower Level $18 Balcony Level $13. The Broken Arrow Community Playhouse is excited to present the uproarious and heartfelt comedy “Daddy’s Dyin’ Who’s Got the Will?” by Del Shores. October 12, 13 and 14, 19, 20, 21 2018. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM Sundays at 2 PM here at the playhouse located at 1800 S. Main Street in Broken Arrow. This production is rated PG-13 for Adult and Politically incorrect language. “Daddy’s Dyin’ Who’s Got the Will?” takes place in the summer in a small Texas town in anytime, U.S.A., and follows the adventures of the Turnover family as they try to settle Buford Turnover’s affairs before he inevitably kicks the bucket. The problem is, Buford (Tom Berenson) has misplaced his will, and it is up to his four children— the spinsterish Sara Lee (Christie Romo), the estranged preacher’s wife Lurlene (Lori Giles), the beer-swilling Orville (Mike McEver), and the country singer wannabe Evalita (Kelly McEver)— to find it. The Turnover family is less concerned about Buford’s will, and more with bickering amongst themselves about who wronged whom in the past. Sharp-tongued Mamma Wheelis (Jan Kendall) and Evalita’s hippie boyfriend Harmony (Ozzy Osborne) and Orville’s wife Marlene (Kelley Friedberg) try to keep the peace, but even they cannot stop the family from falling apart at the seams. Hilarity, as they say, ensues. Director Ron Friedberg is no stranger to the BACP, over the past 25 years he has served on our Board of Directors, acted in numerous roles onstage and directed the successful “The Odd Couple Female Version” in 2013. Ron has been active onstage and off for more than fifty shows throughout the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area. We are happy to have him back at the BACP. Ron has chosen a wonderful cast of BACP veterans and newcomers that are sure to bring this dysfunctional, irreverent, politically incorrect family to life on our stage. More information for this production can be obtained by calling the BACP at 918-258-0077. The BACP is located in The Main Place at 1800 S. Main in downtown Broken Arrow. “Daddy’s Dyin’ Who’s Got the Will” is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. The BACP would like to thank Landmark Business Systems for their generous sponsorship of the 2018-2019 Season. The Broken Arrow Community Playhouse is a member of the Oklahoma Community Theatre Association and the American Association of Community Theatre.

Dickens on the Boulevard is a Victorian-themed Christmas festival in historic downtown Claremore, Oklahoma. The festival, held annually on the weekend before Thanksgiving, is now in its 22nd year in Claremore. Beginning at 6 p.m. each evening, visitors to Dickens on the Boulevard will enjoy live stage entertainment, food, pictures with Santa and more. A Victorian street dance will be held both nights of the event and a territorial marshals reenactment will entertain crowds with plenty of Western-themed action. Living window displays will pepper the downtown area while an artisan village will feature living history demonstrations. Visitors will be able to learn about life in the Victorian era while re-enactors portraying blacksmiths, spinners, wood carvers, potters and more answer questions from the crowd and sell their wares. Browse through the festive shops and decorated boutiques of downtown Claremore or enjoy a Christmas-themed wagon ride through the town. A living nativity, a costume contest and a saloon featuring sarsaparilla and water will all be available. Come and enjoy such delicious fare from chuckwagons as well as hot dogs and kettle corn.
