Kia has dreamed about Marisol since the start of the school year, but always assumed she was staunchly heterosexual (like everyone else in their neighborhood). But when Marisol goes through a health crisis, the two share a forbidden kiss that starts a fulfilling — but challenging — romantic relationship they feel they must keep a secret from their conservative mothers, their classmates, and even their closest friends.

OETA presents a special preview of Country Music: A Film by Ken Burns at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center in Tulsa Saturday, September 7! See clips from the documentary premiering on OETA September 15 and hear from series writer/producer Dayton Duncan and producer Julie Dunfey. Support provided by Bank of America. Country Music is a new eight-part, 16-hour film directed by Ken Burns, and produced by Burns and his long-time collaborators Dayton Duncan and Julie Dunfey. The series explores crucial questions — “What is country music?” and “Where did it come from?” — while focusing on the biographies of the fascinating trailblazers who created and shaped it — from the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Bill Monroe and Bob Wills to Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Woody Guthrie, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Garth Brooks and many more — as well as the times in which they lived. Much like the music itself, the film tells unforgettable stories of hardships and joys shared by everyday people. Tickets to this event are free. Limit four tickets per person. This event is for country music lovers of all ages. However, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

It is more than just a walk and race as we pause to honor our local childhood cancer fighters and survivors and remember the ones who have been taken. What better way to honor kids than to have lots of fun activities for the entire family? Food, entertainment, games, and music will all be a part of the festivities. Most cancer fighters can expect to experience hair loss. Some embrace the bald, while others collect wigs and/or hats and scarves, which may range from sedate to silly. We encourage all participants, and our runners especially, to wear their favorite head gear, whether functional or goofy, in honor of our kids!! Day of race registration and packet pick up will begin at 7:30 a.m. The 5k and 10K race, chip timed on a certified course, will begin at 8:30. Other activities for non-runners will also begin at this time. At 9:45 we will present race awards and then honor our children who have been diagnosed with cancer with a short ceremony. After a short walk around the beautiful River West Festival Park, we will return to continue the fun and activities. For questions, please contact eat6@eau6eav6eaw6.

We solicit your cooperation in helping to make the 2019 County Fair the BEST FAIR ever held in Creek County. When preparing exhibits, read carefully the rules governing each department in which you expect to enter. This will avoid misunderstandings at the last moment. A properly conducted fair should and does result in quality production. Not one factor does more to stimulate efforts on the improvement in farm and ranch conditions than the agricultural fair. It is there that the farmer has an opportunity to see and observe the progress being made in the improvements of farm crops and animals and to compare his work with the efforts of others. His success in competing with his neighbors stimulates him to greater efforts and his failures teach him wherein his work is at fault. It is the purpose of the fair association to make these fairs educational institutions and to encourage cooperation among farmers and men. The management of the Creek County Free Fair is in the hands of the Creek County Fair Board, which is composed of three members elected from each Creek County Commissioners District annually for three-year terms. The active management of the fair is in the hands of the executive board, consisting of president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and five members of the board. This is your fair and is intended to be of educational value to all who attend. No admission charges will be made where exhibits are present. Bring the best you have in the way of livestock, farm crops, vegetables, fruit, canned goods, textiles, poultry, etc. Plan your exhibits early. Read this catalogue. Select exhibits that have merit in their classes. Here is where you compete with your neighbor in your ability to select the best as well as in the production of the article itself. If you win any contest, your neighbor who exhibits in the same class, can see where he has failed or profited thereby. Come and bring your family. Do not forget the boys and girls, for they are the farmers and farmers' wives of the future. Help to make this fair a great success!
