Trail of Tears Art Show

May 1-11, 2024 | 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The annual Trail of Tears Art Show, hosted on the grounds of Cherokee Springs Plaza in Tahlequah, presents authentic Native American art in one of Oklahoma's oldest art shows. Open to artists from all federally recognized Native American tribes, the Trail of Tears Art Show displays a wide range of creativity and artistic style. This diverse art show attracts artists, art dealers and visitors from across the nation. One of the most prestigious multi-tribal art shows in the country, the Trail of Tears Art Show began as a means of cultivating the art form of painting as a way of expressing Native American heritage within the Cherokee Nation. Peruse this year's Trail of Tears Art Show and view categories that historically have included basketry, pottery, graphics, sculpture, miniatures and the annual "Trail of Tears" theme.

First Friday Art Crawl

Since 2007, the Tulsa Arts District has presented the community with rotating art displays as part of the monthly First Friday Art Crawl events. Every first Friday of the month, visitors can explore artwork inside galleries, studios and museums and catch a few live music performances or even an exciting fireworks display. As an added bonus, art crawlers can take advantage of free museum and gallery admission while shopping later than normal business hours would allow. Hit the district early for dinner, or stay a little later for a craft cocktail best enjoyed on an outdoor patio.

Tour De Tulsa

May 4, 2024 | 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The Tour de Tulsa has been a spring cycling ritual for Tulsa-area cyclists for more than 30 years. Tour de Tulsa offers routes ranging from 20 to 100 miles including a family fun ride with options ranging from 5 to 10 miles. Tulsa's premier spring community bicycle ride features good food, great rest stops, full on-road support, and friendly riders all along the way. The Tulsa Bicycle Club and Tulsa's River Parks host this fundraising ride. Proceeds from the Tour de Tulsa benefit the River Parks Foundation which enhances community life through stewardship of parks and public spaces along the Arkansas River. River Parks provides the region's premier public spaces for diverse outdoor experiences.

Railroad Day

The Art of Cinematic Lighting

May 4-5, 2024 | 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Art of Cinematic Lighting is two-day workshop that will be held from 10am - 5pm on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 in person at Good Name Co, 6838 E. 44th St, Tulsa, OK 74145. The workshop introduces students to the basics of lighting a scene for a traditional narrative film production. Students will learn how to use gear found on professional sets, including a variety of lights, stands, and light modifiers, as well as, basic techniques used to achieve looks frequently utilized during the course of a film production. The workshop will be taught by veteran filmmakers using a blend of lecture and hands-on exercises in a professional lighting studio.

Oklahoma Renaissance Festival

Step back in time to the 16th century with Queen Elizabeth I of England and over 400 entertainers and artisans as they create the boisterous Village of Castleton at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival. Held at the Castle of Muskogee, this beloved annual event features a royal court, jousters and jesters, magicians, musicians, and minstrels. Delight your taste buds with wonderful and unique foods or browse through more than 125 handcrafted booths for one-of-a-kind items. Bring the entire family and enjoy a day in Renaissance England. Journey to an age of sorcerers, knights in shining armor, kings, queens, and maidens fair. When planning your voyage to Castleton, it is important to note, costumes are encouraged. On any festival day, patrons may discover guests dressed as fairies, Renaissance villagers and nobles, Sci-fi characters and even pirates. There will be living history demonstrations and marvelous live performances, like a life-size game of chess played by characters, a jousting tournament, thrilling acrobatic feats, KnightWings Birds of Prey and more. A children's realm featuring games and hands-on demonstrations provides hours of fun. Kids may visit the Ultimate Maze and take part in the Royal Quest and the Children's Knighting Ceremony. Guests can enjoy a wide variety of food and drink at one of the many merchants stationed throughout the festival grounds. Special evening events include the Masque'd Ball and The Pirate's Feaste.

Tulsa International Mayfest

Experience an outdoor tribute to the arts and music at the 50th annual Tulsa International Mayfest. This family-oriented event in downtown Tulsa is nationally renowned for presenting the very best in arts and entertainment. Mayfest attracts more than 350,000 people annually with an array of arts, including dance, music, and visual arts. Always a major highlights of spring, Mayfest also includes multiple performance stages and great festival food. Admire artwork on display inside local galleries and museums including the Woody Guthrie Center, 108 Contemporary, the Zarrow Center for Arts and Education and Living Arts. Spin-n-Knit-In

Feb 10, Mar 9, & Apr 13, 2024, Saturday 1 – 4 pm On the second Saturday of each month, drop by the farm to watch or participate as we fellowship and work hand crafts and fiber arts. Bring a craft to work on or come for a "free help session" with fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, or felting. Shepherd’s Cross offers weaving and fiber arts classes year-round, on an individual or group basis. Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritourism facility and a Made in Oklahoma Company that processes Animal Welfare Approved fiber (that is chemical free, hormone free, free range, all natural). Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, processing wool from their own sheep, raised on site. Heart of the Shepherd is the non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm and establishes wool mills in remote, impoverished areas around the world. Heart of the Shepherd teaches Biblical references to the harvest, the animals, farming, and gardening. Shepherd’s Cross and their unique Country Craft Shop is open Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 – 5:30, year-round (closed some holidays).

Tulsa Garden Tour

In 2024, the "Heart & Soil" tour offers four unique gardens located throughout midtown. The breathtaking outdoor gardens and interior spaces on display for the event allow visitors to experience luxe spaces that are normally private. Introduction to Film Editing

Editing can be one of the most challenging aspects of filmmaking. Blending artistic interpretation with technical know-how is a juggling act - but one that can be learned! In this workshop, students will receive an introduction to the post-production workflow commonly used by film editors from project creation and organization to generating a final viewable sample of their work. Tulsa Festival of Kites

Gather to watch colorful, interesting shapes catch some serious air during the annual Tulsa Festival of Kites. Hosted by the Tulsa Wind Riders Kite Club, members will share their kite flying enthusiasm and know-how with guests during the event. Bixby BBQ ‘N Blues Festival

One of the largest barbecue competitions in Oklahoma, the Bixby BBQ 'n Blues Festival features two days of mouthwatering barbecue and great music. Head to Washington Irving Park to witness over 80 barbecue teams from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas compete for the top prize and enjoy live blues music by local bands. Visitors to this annual festival will enjoy free cooking demos, delicious barbecue entries and a wide variety of fair food. Make sure to take part in the People's Choice barbecue competition on Saturday, when barbecue entries are judged by festival-goers who purchase a People's Choice Award taster kit. Bring your kids to the festival's popular Kids Zone, where they can enjoy numerous inflatable jumpers for a small fee per child. Young ones can also stretch their skills during the Kid's-Q, where children ages 6 to 15 will compete to win best barbecue. Come for the barbecue and stay for the great live blues music. Nashville's John Nemeth takes the festival stage on Friday, while The Dylan Whitney Band closes out the event on Saturday night.

Rooster Days Festival

Make your way to the annual Rooster Days Festival in Broken Arrow, one of the oldest continually running festivals in Oklahoma, for a large carnival, a parade, live entertainment and more. Enjoy live music in the entertainment pavilion and the opening of the Rooster Days market and carnival rides on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday morning, the streets of downtown Broken Arrow will flood with spectators of all ages waiting for the parade. This year’s picnic is not just any gathering; it marks the 125th anniversary of this highly esteemed Club, making it a “Homecoming” event of unparalleled significance.
