On the second Saturday of each month, drop by the farm to watch or participate as we fellowship and work hand crafts and fiber arts. Bring a craft to work on or come for a "free help session" with fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, or felting. Shepherd’s Cross offers weaving and fiber arts classes year-round, on an individual or group basis. Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritourism facility and a Made in Oklahoma Company that processes Animal Welfare Approved fiber (that is chemical free, hormone free, free range, all natural). Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, processing wool from their own sheep, raised on site. Heart of the Shepherd is the non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm and establishes wool mills in remote, impoverished areas around the world. Heart of the Shepherd teaches Biblical references to the harvest, the animals, farming, and gardening. Shepherd’s Cross and their unique Country Craft Shop is open Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 – 5:30, year-round (closed some holidays).

Join Gilcrease at Circle Cinema for a screening of Thomas Allen Harris’ “Through a Lens Darkly: Black Photographers and the Emergence of a People”. Attendees will also hear from Don Thompson, photographer, former industrial engineer, educator, and Greenwood documentarian, about the history of black identity through photography, and learn about the photograph of Willie Peevyhouse Davis that is currently on view at all Gilcrease in Your Neighborhood locations. The film explores how African American communities have used the camera as a tool for social change from the invention of photography to the present. This epic tale poetically moves between the present and the past, through contemporary photographers and artists whose images and stories seek to reconcile legacies of pride and shame while giving voice to images long suppressed, forgotten, and hidden from sight. A Vinita tradition since 1979, the World's Largest Calf Fry Festival & Cook-Off features amusement rides, arts and craft displays, live entertainment and plenty of fun for the whole family. Celebrate Vinita's rich ranching history by tasting the festival's namesake, calf fries, also known as a local "delicacy." Visitors who wish to taste the calf fries (also referred to as Rocky Mountain oysters) can purchase tickets to enter the cooking area. Vote for your favorite team in the People's Choice competition and sample other treats including beans, cobblers, salsa, and breads, made by the various cook-off teams. Celebrity judges will determine the overall winners. This festival also has a variety of other activities to keep you entertained. Browse through arts and crafts, bring the kids for an extensive selection of children's activities and inflatables, or enjoy cowboy games. The World's Largest Calf Fry Festival & Cook-Off serves up an average of 2,000 lbs. of calf fries each year. The annual Tallgrass Music Festival in Skiatook is a fun-filled family event that features top-notch bluegrass music. Join hundreds of visitors that descend upon the Tallgrass Music Festival, previously known as the Skiatook Bluegrass Festival. Black Gold Days in Glenpool celebrates the city's rich oil history with family-oriented activities and fun. Join the citizens of Glenpool as they honor the history of the local Glenn Pool oil field, which created numerous oil and oil-related companies in the area and helped the city prosper after its discovery in 1905. Black Gold Days features a carnival, numerous food vendors, free entertainment, and a fireworks display. Known for its lineup of live music performers, this festival will feature everything from bluegrass and gospel, to rock and country. Fill up at the Lion's Club pancake breakfast Saturday morning. Kids will enjoy a frog jump, turtle races, a horseshoe tournament, and a variety of other children's activities. Watch the festive parade on Saturday, then browse through endless craft and vendor booths situated throughout the festival grounds. When you work up an appetite, visit a food vendor and feast on traditional fair favorites including corn dogs, hot dogs, turkey legs, kettle corn, barbecue sandwiches and more. Don't miss out on this fun event that draws more than 15,000 people annually over the four-day period.
