BlackGold Days family-friendly festival is in its 45th year, and is located in BlackGold Park in Glenpool, Oklahoma. It runs from Sept. 28 through Oct. 1 with more than 10,000 attendees expected to experience the largest event of the year for the community. It also attracts vendors from all over Oklahoma and surrounding states. VIP Night is free for sponsors on Sept. 28; $1 carnival-ride night is Sept. 28; included in the festival is a KidZone, a pie-baking contest, a chili cook-off, a petting zoo, carnival rides and a beer garden. Frightening Flash Fiction | 4-week workshop Starts September 26 from 7-9 p.m. and meets weekly through October 17 Registration required at https://bit.ly/44ut6Mc In anticipation of a special CPW Halloween open mic, this 4-week workshop will help participants practice their flash fiction skills while producing work imbued with a dark and mysterious edge. -Join us as we delve into the gothic worlds of vampires, zombies, werewolves, witches, ghosts, monsters, and more. - Each week, workshop participants will be given an optional writing prompt and a word-count limit. - The following week, we will read everyone's pieces during class and perform on-the-spot critiques to help authors revise their work in anticipation of the Halloween reading and possible publication. -Participants are encouraged to explore the gothic and horror genres in any way they see fit, whether this be a traditional, experimental, satirical, humorous, or post-modern approach. About the instructor Eric Howerton is a Teaching Associate Professor of English at OSU Stillwater, an avid hiker, skier, musician, gardener, hot sauce purveyor, and mushroom forager. Experience living history at its best with approximately 125 tents and teepees set up for this annual Western heritage event. Spend the weekend at Woolaroc in Bartlesville and join participants from all over the United States as they recreate the rugged pioneer life of the men and women who trapped and traded throughout 1820s and 1840s-era Indian Territory. Step back in time at this Woolaroc Fall Traders Encampment and observe their lifestyle, learn about their backgrounds and interests, watch their craft demonstrations and check out their wares. The public is invited to browse through the Woolaroc Fall Traders Encampment, formerly known as the Fall Mountain Man Encampment, while enjoying food and living history demonstrations.

This October, head to the historic Greenwood District in Tulsa for the Million Man March Motorcycle Rally & Bike Show. Celebrating the first Million Man March that took place in 1995 which promoted African-American unity and family values, this event will be full of educational and engaging activities. It all gets started on Friday with a meet and greet featuring Black leaders including former director of the NAACP, Benjamin F. Chavis Jr. Later, join the fun at the official kick-off featuring live entertainment from DJ Phatkat. On Saturday, the Black Towns Bike tour will guide you through important areas of Oklahoma's history before having more fun at the event's street party. It all concludes on Sunday with the Community Peace Rally and Bike shower, where they'll see incredible and unique vehicles.
