Sister Act, A Divine Musical Comedy

SISTER ACT, A DIVINE MUSICAL COMEDY OPENS RUN FEBRUARY 29TH AT TULSA COMMUNITY COLLEGE Tulsa Community College Theatre and Music Departments will present Sister Act, A Divine Musical Comedy in the PACE Studio Theatre February 29-March 2nd at 8pm and March 3rd at 2pm on the campus of Tulsa Community College Southeast. Sister Act, A Dive Musical Comedy is written by Sheri and Bill Steinkellner and Douglas Carter Beane. Music by Alan Menken and Lyrics by Glenn Slater the musical is based off the 1992 starring Whoopi Goldberg abs tell the story of disco club singer in the late 1970’s, Deloris Van Cartier played by Mikaela Scott is placed in protective custody in a dying convent, her unique brand of funk comes face-to-face with the traditions of the church and the strict order is in for a change," reads a Sister Act press release. "Masquerading as a nun named Mary Clarence, this sister's act will have you laughing and singing in the aisles." Nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical is being produced by special arrangement by Music Theatre International. Joining Scott in the cast are Valentine Tarpley as Mother Superior, Brayden Marchant as Curtis, the mobster, Von Love as cop Eddie, Ashtyn Marshall as Sister Mary Patrick, Amanda Yarberry as Sister Mary Robert, Samantha Kennedy as Sister Mary Lazarus, Jenna Soltis as Sister Mary Theresa, Jillian Mohn as Sister Mary of Tours and guest artist, Mark LeHoullier as the Monsignor O’Hara. Playing the Pope is guest artist surprise. Also appearing in the ensemble playing numerous roles are Ana Nunez playing a dual role of Sister Mary Peer and Pablo, Canyon Garner as TJ, Touna Vue as Ernie, Adam Morgan as Joey, Aaliyah Morris as Tina, Sydney Greena as Michelle, Conner Griffin and Dominic Diamond as police officers. Playing other nuns are Moriah Jestus as Sister Mary Smiles, Natalie Curtis as Sister Mary Frolic, Nicole Brookman as Sister Mary Wary, Becky Hankins as Sister Mary Graceless and Sydney Greeno as Sister Mary Tattle. Sister Act features choreography by Jennifer Andrasko. The design team includes Aaron Kennedy (Set Design), Stephanie Stone (Production Stage Manager and Lighting Design), Emily Westerfield (Costume Design), Ally Hardsaw (Sound Designer) and Madison Bejamin (Make-up and hair design). Moriah Jestus (Properties) and Randal Pike (Set Construction) Ryan Johnson is the (Assistant Stage Manager) and Jo Jocie Fechter is the (Assistant Costumer) Mark Frank is the Artistic Director and Lara Cowan is the Music Director and conductor. Spin-n-Knit-In

On the second Saturday of each month, drop by the farm to watch or participate as we fellowship and work hand crafts and fiber arts. Bring a craft to work on or come for a "free help session" with fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, or felting. Shepherd’s Cross offers weaving and fiber arts classes year-round, on an individual or group basis. Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritourism facility and a Made in Oklahoma Company that processes Animal Welfare Approved fiber (that is chemical free, hormone free, free range, all natural). Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, processing wool from their own sheep, raised on site. Heart of the Shepherd is the non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm and establishes wool mills in remote, impoverished areas around the world. Heart of the Shepherd teaches Biblical references to the harvest, the animals, farming, and gardening. Shepherd’s Cross and their unique Country Craft Shop is open Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 – 5:30, year-round (closed some holidays).

1940’s Hanger Dance

Step back in time to the WW2 era during the Oklahoma Swing Syndicate and Tulsa Air & Space Museum's Hanger Dance. Put on your 1940s best, listen to the "Sounds of Music Orchestra" live big band and experience one of the largest swing dances in the country during this fun annual event. Arrive early for free dance lessons or take to the floor later in the evening to show off your best dance skills. Patrons will also have a chance to bid on silent auction items or enjoy vintage soda and candy available for purchase. You won't want to miss this family-friendly affair amidst vintage aircraft and WWII memorabilia, which serve as special backdrops to the night's festivities.

T-Town Half Marathon

This March, save the date for the 5th annual T-Town Half Marathon. This springtime half marathon plus 5K starts and finishes in downtown Tulsa. The half marathon includes several miles along the banks of the beautiful Arkansas River. Each year the finisher medal for the T-Town Half will feature iconic downtown Tulsa architecture. The 5K is completely contested on downtown Tulsa streets, while the half marathon will be a mix of downtown streets and paved River Parks Trail. All entrants will receive a tech shirt as well as a great finisher medal. Post race food and beer for those 21 and over will also be available.
