Dying Dialogues

Please RSVP. This event is free and open to the public. Luci Kalanithi, an internist on faculty at Stanford School of Medicine, will speak on Monday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at Lorton Performance Center, 550 S. Gary Pl. Kalanithi wrote the epilogue of her late husband’s New York Times bestseller, “When Breath Becomes Air.” Paul Kalanithi, M.D., wrote the book as he faced terminal cancer. It follows his journey of becoming a neurosurgeon, caring for patients, and facing his own mortality.

Drawing on Memories

Monthly on the Third Tuesday | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

There is a gallery discussion of specific art pieces followed by a hands-on, interactive activity. This program provides an opportunity for the person with the disease to use remaining motor skills and non-linear communication to recreate a representation of them that lets other recognize their essence. Dying Dialogues

October 23, 2017 | 6 p.m.

Please RSVP. This event is free and open to the public. A screening of “Extremis,” the 2017 Academy Award nominated short documentary film, will be held on Monday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. at OU-Tulsa at 4502 E. 41st St. The film explores the difficult decisions families make for their loved ones in urgent end-of-life cases. The viewing will be followed by guest experts discussing the legal, ethical and spiritual dilemmas families face when caring for someone with serious illness.
