This winter, go wild and fill your holiday season with the magic of light. OKC Zoo's Safari Lights features a larger-than-life light display showcasing over 59 wildlife-themed light sculptures viewable on a driving tour through the zoo. Feel the holiday cheer with animated light displays, festive treats, kids activities and weekend visits with Santa. In addition to the drive-thru experience, Safari Lights includes a separate walking experience with interactive light exhibits, musical light performances and lots of other winter magic as guests journey through the zoo’s entry plaza, Children’s Zoo and Dino Safari. To make the ride extra cozy, drive-thru attendees can pre-order hot chocolate and kettle corn, as well as glow items to light the night. Held the first weekend in December at the GAST center, Christkindlmarkt aims to bring a true German old world holiday shopping experience to the Sooner state. Next Door Escapes & Entertainment Presents Christmas in My Hometown By Steve Cowen and Scott Brister The Broken Arrow Community Playhouse is proud to present the ala carte production of an original holiday musical, “Christmas in My Hometown,” Dec. 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 4 and 11 at 2 p.m. here at the Playhouse 1800 S. Main St. Broken Arrow, OK. Rose Magness, the story’s matriarchal narrator, and songs, such as the show-opening “Because It’s Christmas,” the title song “Christmas In My Hometown,” and the heartfelt “Show Me The Way To Bring Christmas,” weave the audience through a menagerie of holiday emotions that spans three Christmases. The first act reflects how one person’s actions can impact an entire city during the holiday season. Rose invites the audience into her neighborhood as “The Doors of Christmas” are opened for a look into the lives of five families, and it all revolves around the neighborhood’s long-standing door decorating contest. "This is my first time working directly with the authors and composer of a show,” said Don Tabberer, who returns to direct his first show at the BACP in 20 years. “It's exciting to be part of the first production of this family musical. "I've spent the past 20 years in full-time ministry. Coming back to the theatre to direct this production seems like the perfect fit. I'm able to combine my love of theatre with my heart for ministry to bring the Jesus story to a new group of folks. “The show demonstrates how important it is for us to be aware and recognize that the people around us may or may not be in the mood for holiday cheer. The cast and crew have come together to bring this show to life because they all believe in its message." With the subtitle “A Story of Hope and Forgiveness,” the play is written by Broken Arrow residents Steve Cowen and Scott Brister and presented by Next Door Escapes and Entertainment. From the bonny shores of England comes the Styckes-Upon-Thump Repertory Theatre Company, a stuffy old travelling troupe embarking on their fifteenth annual farewell tour of the Dickens' tale. The company includes Sir Selsdon Piddock, the consummate actor, in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, with Mrs. Bettina Salisbury, Dame Rowena Middleton-Lewis, Mrs. Cordelia ffoliet-ffolkes ffortescue Woods, Teddy Shub and Elyot Crummels in multiple supporting roles. Sweet Cynthia Imbry, the general understudy, suddenly finds herself thrust onstage to perform a role she's ill-prepared for! Bettina, the company diva, pretends to be ill, certain the production will be cancelled. However, much to her shock and rage, the show does go on without her! Roles are shuffled at the last minute and poor Cynthia finds herself center stage. The play begins but mid-way through the theatre doors open and in rushes Bettina, determined to reclaim her roles. Mayhem ensues as this professional company scrambles to keep the show going and everything that could possibly go wrong does, to hilarious, ridiculous results!

Living Nativity at Shepherd's Cross

Come to this Living Nativity event at Shepherd's Cross, a working farm and Christian mission, to walk through a living, interactive nativity depicting the birth of Jesus Christ. Come, take a peaceful stroll back in time and enjoy live character portrayals, including over one hundred costumed participants. Live animals in the nativity scene include sheep, mules, donkeys, chickens, guineas and horses. The animals are housed in a real, working barn, as this event is an indoor nativity. This year the Living Nativity will feature two drama performances: Elisabeth, the story of Christ’s birth from Elizabeth’s (John the Baptist’s mother) perspective and The Inn Keeper’s Wife, the story of Christ’s birth from the Innkeeper’s Wife’s perspective. These will be offered every hour. Shepherd's Shop will also be open during the event and will feature farm-fresh pecans, Amish pecan candies, baked goods and hot beverages, as well as festive Christmas and sheep-related gifts.
