Summer Internship Program at Shepherd’s Cross

Heart of the Shepherd’s Intern / Apprentice Program at Shepherd’s Cross Summer Semester May – Mid-Aug or Early Sept. The internship program at the farm equips students with basic farming skills and with Biblical references to farming and shepherding. Students are taught historical agriculture, mixed with a healthy appreciation for industrialized agriculture and exposed to agricultural parables found in The Bible. Shepherd’s Cross is a working sheep farm. There are many other animals and activities on the farm. Other areas of the farm include a Farm Museum, a Farm Store, Wool Mill, and Bible Garden. The internship is under the direction of Dr. Diane Dickinson, an agriculturalist with a Bachelor’s in Agriculture, a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and over five decades of farm and livestock experience. She serves as an on-site veterinarian and operates a veterinary care unit on the farm. The summer semester is the busiest Bible Garden season to intern, as this is harvest season. Educate visitors on growing, harvesting, and using seasonal produce as part of our outreach program. This is weaning season for the lambs, and summer grass range season for the ewes. Experience is advantageous but not required. High school or college students as well as any age adult are welcome to apply. College credit may be received for students enrolled in college classes. Following successful completion of the Internship, the student may apply for the Apprentice/Residency Program. This program allows the student to remain at the farm for eight additional months to experience all the activities of a farm year. Internships are full or part time and live on-site or live off-site. Compensation for internships may include room, board, and a monthly monetary stipend. The stipend is not a salary, and it is performance based.

BotaniCamp

BotaniCamp is a three-day summer adventure at Tulsa Botanic Garden for curious kids ages 7–12! Held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Garden's Mabee Grange event center, this camp is educational and entertaining!

Sensory Night at the Oklahoma Aquarium

August 5, 2025

Join us at the Oklahoma Aquarium for Sensory Awareness Evenings on the 1st Tuesday of each month. With low lights & quiet music, you & your little & big humans alike can explore the Oklahoma Aquarium without the usual crowd-perfect for people that get peopled out easily! Each month has a self-guided scavenger hunt with a prize for everyone that completes it! This event is free with general admission or Oklahoma Aquarium membership.

Greenwood Film Festival

Greenwood Film Festival is now celebrating its 5th year! Based in the home of Black Wall Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, our mission is to create an atmosphere of life and healing through film and civic discourse. Come and be inspired! The festival brings filmmakers and movie enthusiasts together for four days filled with screenings, engaging discussions, classes, and networking opportunities. This year’s festival will take place from August 11-14 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at various locations throughout the city

Indian Nations Artifact & Fossil Show

Attend the annual Indian Nations Artifact & Fossil Show at the Tulsa Mabee Center for booths filled with relics, fossils, arrowheads and more. Witness ancient items sure to intrigue all ages while exploring the various gemstones and tools on display. After taking a look at snowshoes and Native American blankets, be sure to tour the ORU Willard Elsing Museum to extend the day's fun.

Jana Jae Fiddle Camp & Music Festival

August 29-31, 2025

Attend the Jana Jae Fiddle Camp and Music Festival and witness fiddlers of all levels and ages come together in a learning experience with master instructors and performers. Classes include demonstrations and instruction, as well as learning to play with groups and before an audience. All acoustic musicians are welcome. Other workshops presented are flat-pick guitar, back-up guitar, mandolin, cello, and spoons. Enjoy this fun-filled weekend of learning, great entertainment and jamming with friends. This event will feature bluegrass music, swing and more. Bring the whole family and enjoy great food and great music. Learn from the best area musicians in individual and group sessions, then stick around for RV and tent camping, fishing, and boating on Oklahoma's beautiful Grand Lake. The Jana Jae Fiddle Camp and Music Festival will also feature special appearances by fiddle groups, master fiddlers and top-contest fiddlers.
