As temperatures drop across northeastern Oklahoma, American Patio Enclosures is giving homeowners a way to keep their outdoor living spaces open through the colder months instead of closing them down until spring.

The company, founded more than two decades ago by Wes Mathis, has two locations: Broken Arrow, OK and Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. Locally, the business is run by his father, Curtiss Mathis, a longtime Broken Arrow business owner, and Curtiss’ wife, Robin, who serve as the area’s sales and installation specialists.

The goal, Curtiss said, is “a clean, seamless look that blends with your home,” whether the project encloses an existing patio or builds one from scratch.

The company builds custom screen enclosures, motorized retractable screens designed to reduce wind, cold and moisture while you enjoy your outdoor space. Frames are built from extruded aluminum and paired with commercial-grade fabrics from suppliers including Phifer Suntex and Twitchell Textilene.

A Difference You Can Feel

Additionally, when you say goodbye to your bare patio, you’ll notice the increased comfort an American Patio Enclosure system creates. This is especially true if you use outdoor fireplaces and heaters, which become more effective because the heat has less competition with the outside air.

A Difference You Can See

Not all enclosures are built the same, and the difference shows up fast in a harsher climate. Thin, budget mesh screens tear under wind load within a few seasons. Unrated vinyl panels turn brittle and crack in freezing temperatures. Lightweight aluminum can sag, rust or warp, leaving gaps that are the exact problems an enclosure is supposed to solve. Homeowners who choose the lowest bid often find themselves replacing panels, screens or frames within a few years, erasing whatever they saved upfront.

Curtiss said the company’s materials are built to be strong, reliable and low-maintenance, giving customers long-term value rather than a project they will need to redo.

Pricing depends on the size of the space, materials selected and level of customization. Curtiss said the company keeps pricing transparent, with clear, upfront estimates so homeowners know the cost before work begins.

Beyond comfort, a quality enclosure is also one of the higher-yielding outdoor home upgrades. Industry estimates put resale returns at 70% to 84% of project cost, largely tied to the usable square footage an enclosure adds.
