Free RoCo Fit Couch to 5k

Free 12-week Couch to 5K walk and walk/run program, open to anyone 13 yrs. and older who work, live, play, or learn in Rogers County. Mentored groups are led through progressive workouts at Claremore Lake Park, Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings in the spring and fall. All fitness levels are welcome. During the 12 weeks, participants will go from walking or walking/running a mile and finish a Mock 5K (3.1 miles). All participants finishing 70% of the workouts will receive a program tech shirt from Rogers County Health Department.

This program provides an opportunity for the person with the disease to use remaining motor skills and non-linear communication to recreate a representation of them that lets other recognize their essence. ELNEC (End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium) - Core course

Clarehouse will host an End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium-Core course on May 31 from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., providing an opportunity to improve the end-of-life experience for patients and families by empowering healthcare providers with knowledge to deliver and model proper palliative and end-of-life care. The course will be presented in the meeting room at Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mingo Rd. Course completion earns the nursing participant 8.25 CE Credit Hours and 2 Pharmacotherapeutic Category 1 designated credit hours specific to the national American Nurses Credentialing Center re-certification of the Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist, provided by the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association. CE certificate fees are $80 for HPNA members and $100 for nonmembers. The course is $95 per person and includes lunch, snacks, and program materials, and is open to all healthcare providers. The ELNEC-Core curriculum focuses on Palliative Nursing Care; Pain Management; Final Hours; Communication; Cultural and Spiritual Considerations; Loss, Grief and Bereavement; Symptom Management and Ethics. The material will be presented by Kelley Scott, BSN, RN-BC, CHPN, Executive Director of Clarehouse; Donna Spivey, LCSW, Palliative Care Social Worker at Hillcrest Medical Center; and Nydia Parks, APRN-CNP, Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner at Hillcrest Medical Center.
