Get ready to embrace the magic of the season at The Castle of Muskogee! Castle Christmas returns Thanksgiving night, transforming the village of Castleton into a wonderland of thousands of dazzling lights and animated displays. Explore the Castle Christmas grounds, dine in Rudolph’s Café, shop artisan wares, and take a leisurely mile-long drive through the village, free for every guest, with donations gratefully accepted.
“Families have made this drive part of their holidays for years. Entry is free, and it always will be,” said Sidney Hiller of The Castle of Muskogee.
After Halloween, the Castle grounds once sat quiet all winter. That changed when Jason Jones, the self-proclaimed “King of Holiday Inflatables,” outgrew his front yard and teamed up with Castle owner Jeff Hiller. “Our Castle Christmas debuted as a small preview in 2005 and opened in full in 2006 with more than a thousand inflatables. Our goal has always been to give back to the community with a free holiday outing for families. That tradition lives on today as Castle Christmas,” Hiller explained.
“We want families to slow down and stay a while,” said Hiller. “Make an ornament, roast a s’more and let the kids mail their letters to St. Nicholas.”
“St. Nicholas has a big job ahead of him, so he leaves us a little early to deliver presents around the world,” Hiller said with a smile.
Nearby, the City of Muskogee’s Garden of Lights draws thousands of visitors each year. More than 1.2 million shimmering lights decorate the park’s trees, bushes, waterfalls and ponds. Gates open nightly at 5:30 p.m. from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. Admission is free on Mondays and Tuesdays and $10 per vehicle Wednesday through Sunday, with cards and cash accepted. For season pass information, contact Muskogee Parks and Recreation at 918-684-6302.
“Between the Castle and the Garden of Lights, Muskogee is the place to be at Christmas,” said Hiller. For more information, visit okcastle.com or call 918-687-3625, or visit cityofmuskogee.com.
