Broken Arrow's Impact Award

Broken Arrow Chamber announces 2016 Successful Women’s Community Impact award winners.

The Broken Arrow Chamber Successful Women’s Community Impact Award, presented by Woods and Associates, was established to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of women in Broken Arrow. The winners for the most recent calendar year were announced on December 1, 2016.

 

The nominees for this award were all women who are making a significant impact of the Community of Broken Arrow. They all demonstrate excellence in their professional work, volunteer work and the work they do behind the scenes that only a few may know about.

All of the nominees were more than qualified to receive this special recognition. The nominees for this award were: Heather Bryson, Sharon Whelpley, Lisa Ford, Amber Minter, Kim Vento, Krista Flasch, Denise Johnson, Kimberly Goddard, Lori Lewis, Dawn Seing, Michelle Carpenter, Cheryl Kelly, Wendy VanMatre, Cindy Morrison & Miranda Burcham.

 

The Broken Arrow 2016 Successful Women’s Community Impact Awards Winners are: Lori Lewis, Lisa Ford and Sharon Whelpley.

 

Lori Lewis works at the Museum Broken Arrow. Lori was nominated for her excellence work in preserving and sharing the history of Broken Arrow. She has shared the story of Broken Arrow all over the state and country. She also worked to put Broken Arrow on the schedule for a traveling Smithsonian Exhibit in 2017.

 

Lisa Ford is a crime prevention specialist for the Broken Arrow Police Department. She hosts two amazing community events each year: Fun and Games on Main,which draws over 10,000 to The Rose District, and a school supply drive that provides supplies, haircuts and other needed supplies to help hundreds of children start their school year off on a positive note. Lisa is involved with and supports several organizations in Broken Arrow.

 

Sharon Whelpley currently serves on the Board of Education for the Tulsa Technology Center. Since moving to Broken Arrow in 1978, she has worked in its school district, served on the BAPS Board of Education for 20 years, worked at Tulsa Technology Center and has served on the Tulsa Tech Board since 2014. Sharon has worked to support education in just about every way that you can and is a tireless supporter of all things Broken Arrow.

 

“We could not be more proud of the work that all of our nominees are doing in our community. They are making a difference for every resident in Broken Arrow,” said April Sailsbury, Senior Vice President of the BA Chamber. “We are so excited for our winners and cannot wait to see the amazing things they continue to do in this great community.”

 

This is the first time the Chamber has hosted the Successful Women’s Community Impact Awards luncheon, which was sponsored by Woods & Associates.
