Walk MS: Tulsa

April 6, 2019

Walk MS: Tulsa is an annual walk event held every spring to raise funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. The walk has a 1 mile and 3 mile option for participants to choose from with rest stops along the long route. Sponsors and vendors are set up at the event, giving away promotional items and information about their companies. There is music by a local DJ and food on-site, usually donated by local restaurants. The funds raised go to research for Multiple Sclerosis to determine a cause of the disease and to develop better treatment for those affected; education about how it can affect a person's life, family, and friends; and programs and services for those living with MS and their caregivers.

Rogers County Medicine Disposal

April 6 & 20, 2019 | 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

April in Rogers County is a time to get rid of waste.Along with this, Volunteers for Youth will be set up to take your old or unneeded medicine at two events, April 6 in Claremore and April 20 in Oologah. We will be partnering with Oologah,Community Connections, Rogers County Sheriffs Department and students from RSU Criminal Justice Society to host these dates. Disposing of all unused and unneeded medications is one of the easiest ways to keep your family from misusing medicine not prescribed for them. Next to marijuana, prescriptions medications are the most common drugs teens and other family members are abusing. For this years event, we will also be accepting needles, thanks to the Partnership for Success funding. All needles should be placed in sharps containers or other hard plastic like laundry or bleach bottles. Needles are never accepted at the permanent disposal boxes located throughout the county at Claremore, Oologah, Catoosa, Chelsea and Inola Police Departments,as well as Rogers County Sheriffs Department. Parents and other family members are in the best position to reduce access to prescription drugs by locking up medicines and properly disposing of expired or unused medicines. Claremore- April 6, 9 am to 12 pm Claremore Industrial Park off Lowrey Oologah, April 20, 9 am to 12 pm The Gazebo Parking lot in Oologah across for Police Department For questions about this event, contact Amy Graham @ eat2@eau2eav2eaw2.
