What is red, white, tastes good and has art all over? If you guessed Wine, Eats and Easels, you’re right!

Slated for Friday, Oct. 12 from 6:00-9:00 pm, the 15th anniversary of this event promises to be the best one yet! What is it exactly? Besides great wine, beer and food, there will be live music from Grady Nichols as well as local artists. The setting for the event is the Rose District Pavilion, located on Main Street in Broken Arrow. And, the most important part . . . all proceeds benefit Broken Arrow Neighbors, a non-profit organization that provides basic needs assistance with dignity and compassion to neighbors in need. Some of the services provided by Broken Arrow Neighbors include medical, dental and legal clinics, a client choice food pantry, limited financial assistance, school supplies, outreach services and various holiday programs.

“The event started out at the Tulsa Homeowners Association and it quickly mushroomed into the incredible event we have now,” says Michelle Carpenter, Event Chair.

Each year BA Neighbors, along with dedicated committee members, start planning the soiree in March, long before the October event. “Our committee members are some of the most dedicated people in the community who work tirelessly to make this not only a successful event, but one everyone can enjoy,” boasts Michelle.

Dozens of wine and beer distributers, along with local restaurants pair up to provide an evening your pallet won’t soon forget. “Grady Nichols has been gracious enough to play at every single Wine, Eats and Easels we’ve hosted, and it just adds that magical touch to the evening,” says Michelle.  Some of the other activities patrons enjoy are Butt Sketch artist Krandel Lee Newton (featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live) and wine pulls. The wine pulls are $30 for one or just $100 for four bottles. Each pull comes with a special gift. The event also brings together an eclectic group of artists from around the region.

Broken Arrow Neighbors has been serving the community for more than 30 years. Last year alone more than 12,000 people received assistance, “Food for Kids” distributed food to 4,132 children at 24 schools, 223,559 food items were given out, 432 people received medical care, more than 1,000 people received utility assistance, 571 families received holiday meals and 296 kids received holiday gifts and the list goes on and on. Besides providing emergency assistance, BA Neighbors is also set up for multiple visits to people in need to help them regain or maintain their desired level of self-sufficiency.

Like most non-profits, unforeseen changes in the economy can and does challenge its ability to help. The challenges come in two parts – more people who need assistence and decreasing donations. That is why Wine, Eats and Easels is such an important event. “It gives us the opportunity to let the community know what they’re all about and with good attendance, helps set a foundation of support for clients,” adds Michelle.

Besides attending the event, sponsorships are still available at many different levels, starting at just $250. Tickets for the event are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend, so get your tickets early. It will be an evening to remember. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
