It seems impossible, but we’re less than a month away from the Christmas holiday season, and there’s no time like the present to start shopping for fabulous gifts in Broken Arrow. “The Buy Broken Arrow campaign began in 1995, and many residents remember attending the drawing on that cold, snowy night at the Tiger football stadium,” says Kathy Reynolds, senior vice president of operations for the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce. “This is our city’s 17th annual Buy Broken Arrow Christmas campaign, and area residents always look forward to the holiday season and the great spirit of participation from local businesses and merchants.”

Buy Broken Arrow is actually an investment in our community and our businesses, with the objective of increasing public awareness and customer traffic for participating merchants. By shopping in Broken Arrow, you help local merchants and the economic health of our city.

The official kickoff of Buy Broken Arrow is November 4, 2011, when merchants will begin distributing tickets. Star Jewelers is the official ticket sponsor of the campaign and will be responsible for the production of 2.5 million tickets to be distributed to shoppers prior to the 3 p.m. drawing of the $10,000 grand prize winning ticket on December 19, 2011. The drawing will be at Star Jewelers on South Main in downtown Broken Arrow. You do not have to be present to win. You may visit www.brokenarrow.org/chamber/buyba.php to view the official event brochure, which lists all participating sponsors and campaign rules.

The Buy Broken Arrow campaign will award a total of $15,000 in prizes to three lucky winners. The grand prize is $10,000. Second prize is $3,000, and third is $2,000. To be eligible for the drawings, shoppers must visit participating merchants and receive their Buy Broken Arrow campaign tickets. No purchase is necessary. One ticket is distributed for each potential customer entering the participating store. Shoppers will also be given one ticket for every $10 increment of purchases they make. A maximum of 100 tickets will be distributed per qualified purchase.

Business owners, managers, and employees cannot win on the tickets carrying their employer’s or business’s numbers, but they are eligible to win if shopping at other participating businesses. To participate and be eligible to win one of the prizes, you must be 18 years of age or older. Government or school district purchases will not be eligible for drawings.

Winning tickets will be drawn on December 19 at 3 p.m. You are encouraged to watch your local news, check the chamber’s website (www.bachamber.com), or check the City of Broken Arrow’s website (www.brokenarrowok.gov) for the winning numbers to be announced.

The winning ticket holders will have three business days to claim the money. If not claimed, the second number will be drawn on December 22 at 3 p.m. If a winner does not come forward, drawings will continue until a winner claims the prize. Addi-tional drawing dates, if needed, will be on December 29 and January 4, 9, 12, 17, 20 and 25.

Shop Broken Arrow and support the Buy Broken Arrow 2011 Christmas campaign. The more you shop, the greater your chance of being a winner. Happy shopping and good luck!
