The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame is proud to announce The Great Divide, celebrated musicians widely regarded as pioneers of Red Dirt music, will perform at the Muskogee Civic Center on October 25. Joining them for a memorable evening of original Oklahoma music is the multi-talented and Grammy-nominated artist John Fullbright.
The Great Divide, a landmark Red Dirt band from Stillwater, Oklahoma, formed in 1992 and helped to shape and popularize the Oklahoma/Texas roots-country scene. Their early albums Goin’ for Broke and Break in the Storm were self-releases, while their third record Revolutions gained wider exposure through Atlantic Records. Known for hard touring – up to 300 shows a year – and songs that combine country, rock, and authentic storytelling, the band reunited in 2011 with its original members (plus keyboardist Bryce Conway). In 2022 they released Providence, their first full-studio album together in nearly two decades. Recent singles have topped regional charts, and in 2024 they made their Grand Ole Opry debut. They’ve also been recognized with honors from the Texas Country Music Association and the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. The Great Divide aren’t just veterans of the scene – they’re foundational pillars of it.
John Fullbright is a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter from Bearden, Oklahoma whose storytelling and soulful voice have made him one of the most respected young artists in American music. Blending folk, country, and Americana, Fullbright first gained national attention with his debut album From the Ground Up, earning a Grammy nomination for Best American Album in 2013. Known for his sharp lyrical insight and heartfelt delivery, he continues Oklahoma’s proud songwriting tradition – following in the footsteps of Woody Guthrie and Jimmy Webb – while crafting songs that are deeply personal and refreshingly honest. Fullbright performed at the funeral of world-renowned musician Leon Russell and has opened for Jimmy Webb, another Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame inductee. Whether solo or with his band, he captivates audiences with authenticity and remarkable musical craft. Fullbright received the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame Rising Star Award in 2014.
This fundraising concert has been organized to help the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame with expenses related to moving into its building after a year-long remodeling project. Thanks to the State of Oklahoma and the City of Muskogee, the newly designed Hall of Fame building, located in the Frisco Depot District of Muskogee, will reopen early in the first quarter of 2026.
