Students at the U-Turn Academy show off the recycled furniture project they are working on for the annual Chair-ity Auction. Make sure you attend February 5th for the chance to bid on this one of a kind item.

Join Volunteers for Youth at The Barns of Moore Farms east of Claremore for their third annual “Chair-ity” Auction, February 5 at 6:30 p.m. Bring out your Mardi Gras beads and get ready for a night of Cajun cuisine, jazz music, and art. “We are so excited about our new venue this year and appreciate the generosity of Roger and Renita Moore for donating the use of their beautiful, rustic elegant facilities. Since Volunteers for Youth is truly a local non-profit, we could not sustain the many great services we provide throughout Rogers County without the generous support received during our fundraising events,” said Chris Butler, executive director.
Get ready to bid! This Mardi Gras themed event will feature a live auction of creatively repurposed and redesigned small furnishings, as well as a silent auction where “recycled” art and home décor items will go home with the high bidders. For a $50 buy-in, Extreme Musical Chairs contestants will win elimination prizes of a minimum $25 value and escalating to a grand prize getaway. For a $20 donation you can enter a raffle with entries accepted until the time of the on-site drawing. Mocktails and a cash bar will be available.
Volunteers for Youth is calling on all Pinterest enthusiasts, DIY fans, and the generally creative types to participate. Donations of the creatively repurposed furnishings as well as items for the silent auction are still being accepted; contact the Volunteers for Youth office at (918) 343-2530.
Tickets are on sale now for the event and may be purchased at the Volunteers for Youth office inside Claremore’s Grand Bank, the Claremore Chamber of Commerce, the Claremore Community Center, and Vintique Charm in downtown Claremore. Prior to the event, tickets are $15 each or two for $25. Bundle pricing is also available. For $75, you gain one entrance to the event, participation in extreme musical chairs, and a raffle entry. Corporate tables that seat eight are available for a $150 donation, and cash sponsorships of any amount are needed.
The mission of Volunteers for Youth is to positively impact the lives of Rogers County youth. This is accomplished through mentoring programs (PAL, e-PAL, and Tutor-PAL), an after school program (BLAST), a program for students on long term suspension (U-Turn Academy), and a program for first offenders or those on the path to delinquency (Step-Up). They also have a prevention team that works on efforts to reduce underage drinking (STOP Act project), substance abuse (Drug Free Communities), and overall healthy living (TSET Healthy Living Program). Volunteers for Youth is supported in part by Rogers County United Way.
