With Christmas just around the corner, most people, whether they want to or not, have begun thinking about their holiday gift-giving. Family, in-laws, coworkers, classmates and many others top the lists as people to buy for each year. And with all the inconveniences that accompany holiday shopping, why not take a different approach this year? With the help of the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce, shoppers can avoid the typical crowds of people, jam-packed parking lots, stress, and hours of gift-hunting time that come with the holidays. The 2007 Buy Broken Arrow Christmas Campaign kicks off November 9.

In its 13th year, the Buy Broken Arrow Christmas Campaign is organized by the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce to generate more business for Broken Arrow merchants. Shoppers can purchase items from local stores in an effort to whittle down their gift lists and support the community. As a reward, shoppers will be given tickets to be entered into a drawing for cash prizes. “Each patron who visits a participating merchant in the Buy Broken Arrow Christmas Campaign will be given one ticket just for going into the store and one ticket for each $10 purchase,” says Kathy Reynolds, vice president of programs at the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce.

Cash prizes of $10,000, $3,000 and $2,000 will be awarded to three lucky winners this year. While the drawing will be held December 17 at 3 p.m., ticket holders do not have to be present to win. “The results will be posted online immediately after the drawing and will be announced on local news stations,” Reynolds mentions. “The winners have three business days to come forward and claim their prizes.” Visit www.brokenarrow.org and www.brokenarrowok.gov within minutes after the drawing to see who the lucky winners are.

Over 100 merchants are expected to participate in this year’s event. Just a few include: U.S. Cellular, Reasor’s, Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse, Nouveau-Atelier de Chocolat, Kwik Kar Lube and Tune, Hot Rod Alley Gifts and Nostalgia, J. David Jewelry, Chris Nikel Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Hideaway Salon, as well as Cartridge World. Each merchant will have posters on display to identify their participation in this year’s event.

Be sure not to miss out on the 2007 Buy Broken Arrow Christmas Campaign. There is no better place to shop than in your own community. Visit local Broken Arrow merchants beginning November 9 and try your luck at winning $10,000, $3,000 or $2,000. For more information about the event or becoming a participating merchant, contact the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce at (918) 251-1518 or online at www.brokenarrow.org.
