Introducing the Officers for 2024, President, Monta Ewing, VicePresident Stephanie Gilbert, Secretary Linda Coleman, and Treasurer Deborah McDaniel.

The Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club has achieved a significant milestone in history! One Hundred Twenty-five years that is comprised of five generations of Cherokee women that evolved out of the female seminaries of higher education.

These Cherokee women have kept the importance of education at the forefront, as well as the Cherokee history and culture in the spotlight of the world. This is a dynamic history of being a living and breathing story of our Matrilineal Society, as we have been ever evolving through the many adversities of our changing world as we move into the future.

With a new year beginning, we are planning and preparing for upcoming events, that are open to the public, such a the “Old Fashion Picnic” in May at the Will Rogers birthplace ranch, the “Hat off to Will” Will Rogers Day in November, birthday tribute and the Wreath Laying Ceremony at Will Rogers Memorial Museum in November, and the other social and cultural events that we promote and participate in, throughout the year. Thank you to the Oklahoma Art Council and the National Endowment for the Arts and to the many individuals who support, encourage, and help us achieve our scholarship goals and bring cultural awareness to our community.
