With the exception of more technologically-savvy users, most everyone has had the experience of helplessness when something goes awry with a computer. Even more frustrating is trying to get a computer fixed. While some of the big box stores attempt to provide adequate repair services, the reality is that such an approach usually results in unreasonable wait times and impersonal interactions. A Family run business, Urban Computers combines convenience with an experience that is friendly, informative and dependable.

Joseph Keefer has over 15 years’ experience in the IT field, and has been providing network and computer services to small businesses throughout the Tulsa region to Oklahoma City and Bartlesville. With the opening of Urban Computers this past December, Joseph extends his services to private residences.

Urban Computers is a one-stop shop for your computer needs. From repairs and upgrades to new systems and training, the store provides a services and expertise to ensure customers have a pleasant experience obtaining the products and support they seek.

Services provided by Urban Computers are extensive. Computer nonresponsive or seemingly ruined permanently? Bring it to Joseph and his staff, because they can perform miracles. "One customer brought me her laptop, which had chocolate milk spilled all over it," recalls Joseph. It was a sticky mess and she was sure it was unfixable." Joseph spent time taking apart the machine and meticulously cleaning the various components. "The only thing that ended up needing to be replaced was the keyboard," says Joseph. However, nothing could save everyone from the stench of rotten chocolate milk, which was also remedied during the thorough cleaning.

Urban Computers is willing to make an effort seldom observed at larger stores. Services provided include software updates, memory upgrades, laptop and desktop repair, virus removal, data recovery, IPad and Apple computer service. Urban Computers is an HP Partner, a Dell Premier Partner and Microsoft certified.

The store also sells new laptops, monitors, desktop systems and accessories. Joseph and staff will take the time to explain the differences and technical specifications of each option. And, if the desired system is not in stock, they will gladly order it for you, passing on competitive discounts and delivering directly to your home or office. Also in store are plenty of parts, accessories and cables to make sure your gadgets are working efficiently. There is even a display with fashionable accessories for your laptop or phone.

But the support does not end with products and repair. Joseph already has plans in the works to provide training directly to his customers. Urban Computers will facilitate small classes for customers looking to learn how to more effectively use their computers and software. Beginning this month, look for classes on topics such as basic computer use, network security, cloud computing and Excel. In addition, classes are planned for helping parents monitor their kids’ Internet usage.

Be sure to check their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/urbancomputerstulsa) for class schedules and Valentine’s Day deals. Business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. In the meantime, avoid the wait and crowds at the big box stores and stop by their store just south of 121st on Memorial.
